Installation and
Operation Instructions
โ Do not store or use gasoline or other
๏ฌammable vapors and liquids in the
vicinity of this or any other appliance.
โ WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
โข Do not try to light any appliance.
โข Do not touch any electrical switch; do
not use any phone in your building.
โข Leave the building immediately.
โข Immediately call your gas supplier from a
neighborโs phone. Follow the gas supplierโs
instructions.
โข If you cannot reach your gas supplier,
call the ๏ฌre department.
โ Installation and service must be performed
by a quali๏ฌed installer, service agency or
the gas supplier.
โ In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
a carbon monoxide (CO) detector shall
be installed in the same room as the
appliance.
WARNING: If the information in these
instructions is not followed exactly, a ๏ฌre
or explosion may result causing property
damage, personal injury or loss of life.
This appliance may be installed in an aftermarket,
permanently located, manufactured home or mobile
home, where not prohibited by local codes.
This appliance is only for use with the types of gas
indicated on the rating plate. A conversion kit is
supplied with the appliance.

Installation Requirements for the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
THIS PRODUCT MUST BE INSTALLED BY
A LICENSED MASTER OR JOURNEYMAN
PLUMBER OR GAS๎FITTER WHEN
INSTALLED IN THE COMMONWEALTH
OF MASSACHUSETTS.
1. If there is not one already present, on each ๏ฌoor
level where there are bedroom(s), a carbon
monoxide detector and alarm shall be placed
in the living area outside the bedroom(s). The
carbon monoxide detector shall comply with
NFPA 720 (Current Edition).
2. A carbon monoxide detector shall:
a) Be located in the room that houses the
appliance or equipment;
b) Be either hard-wired or battery powered or
both; and
c) Shall comply with NFPA 720 (Current
Edition).
3. A Product-approved vent terminal must be
used, and if applicable, a Product-approved
air intake must be used. Installation shall be
in strict compliance with the manufacturerโs
instructions. A copy of the installation
instructions must remain with the appliance or
equipment at the completion of the installation.
4. A Manual gas supply line shut-o๎ valve must
be installed.

Initial Break-in
It is normal for smoke and odor to occur during the
initial stages of operation, depending upon temperatures
generated over time. This โcuringโ condition can be
alleviated by promoting fresh air circulation within the
immediate vicinity of the appliance. Please see page 23 for
further information.
Operation Sound
Please be aware that cast iron and steel components expand
and contract with temperature ๏ฌuctuations that are often
accompanied by โcreakingโ
or โpingingโ sounds. This is
the result of natural thermal
activity.
The blower fan will also
generate a slight hum at the
low setting and progressively
increase with the velocity of
forced air.
