General Weighing Operation
1. This scale operates on 2 CR2032 Lithium batteries (included).
There is a plastic strip under the Lithium battery cover to
prevent battery drain in shipping. Remove the strip before
continuing with these instructions.
2. Place the scale on a hard, level surface.
3. ON-TARE Press “ ” to turn the scale on. The display rst shows
”, then zero when it is ready for use. If the display
does not show zero, press “ ” to reset (tare) the scale ON-TARE
to zero.
4. Your scale is set at the factory to weigh in pounds/ounces. To
switch between grams (g), ounces (oz), pounds and ounces,
(lb:oz) and milliliters (ml), press the “ ” button. UNIT
Liquid ingredient measurement: The liquid measure feature
is suitable for all water based liquids, including wine, milk,
stock, cream etc. Note: Oils have a lower specic gravity,
which will result in a volume reading of approximately +10%.
If measuring oils by volume on this scale, please adjust for
this accordingly.
5. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the platform.
The weight will display. As you add weight, the weight
displayed increases.
6. The scale will turn off automatically after 3 minutes of non-use
or if there is no change in weight after 3 minutes. Press and
hold “ ” to turn the scale off manually.ON-TARE
Battery Replacement
1. Your Taylor® scale is equipped with a low battery indicator.
It will display “ ” or readings will grow dim or become LO
irregular if the batteries needs replacement.
2. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale.
Take care when removing and replacing the battery door
screw. Do not turn the screw in the wrong direction or over
tighten it as this may strip the screw threads in the plastic
battery door.
3. Remove the old batteries. Place the new batteries into the
battery compartment with the “ ” signs showing.+
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
NOTE: Please recycle or dispose of batteries per local regulations.
WARNING: Batteries may pose a choking hazard. As with all small
items, do not let children handle batteries. If swallowed, seek
medical attention immediately.
PRECAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries in re. Batteries may
explode or leak. Remove the batteries if the scale will not be
used for a long period of time.

Tare Operation
You may wish to weigh ingredients a bowl or other container (not
included). In this case, you will need to tare, or offset, the weight of the
bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed.
1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform without
tipping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this might reduce
the maximum capacity of the scale.
2. While the scale is off, place the empty container on the scale platform.
Turn the scale on. The display will show zero. The weight of the
container has been zeroed out.
3. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone
will display.
4. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For
example, if a recipe calls for ½ lb rice and ½ lb beans, place the rice
into the bowl. Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press “ON-
TARE” until the display is reset to zero. Add the ½ lbs of beans. Both
ingredients have been accurately weighed in the same bowl.
5. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negative
number when the items are removed from the scale. To reset the scale
back to zero for a new measurement, press “ ” until the display ON-TARE
resets to zero.
Precautions
1. Clean exposed parts with a soft, slightly damp cloth. To remove stains, use
a mild soap. Never use detergents, excess water, treated cloths, harsh
cleaning agents, or sprays. Avoid contact with acids, such as citrus juices.
2. Do not tamper with the scale’s internal components. Doing so will invalidate
the warranty on this unit and may cause damage. The scale contains no
user-serviceable parts
3. Although your scale is designed to be maintenance-free, it contains sensitive
electronic parts. Avoid rough treatment. Treat it with care to ensure the best
performance.
4. This scale is intended for home/consumer use only. It is not intended for
commercial or medical use.
5. This scale is designed to read weights up to 11 lb/176 oz/5000 g/5000 ml. To
prevent damage, do not place more than 11 lb/176 oz/5000 g/5000 ml on it.
6. Do not store scale where you store cleaning chemicals. The vapors from
some household products may affect the electronic components of your
scale. Do not store scale on its side.
7. This scale is an extremely sensitive weighing device. In order to prevent run
down of the battery, do not store anything on the scale.
8. Do not dispose of batteries in re. Batteries may explode or leak. Do not mix
old and new batteries. Remove the batteries if the scale will not be used for
a long period of time.
9. unStUnstable Warning: Should “ ” appear on the display, this indicates the
scale is unstable. Place the scale on a hard, level surface during use.
10. Overload Warning: Should “ ” appear on the display during a weighing, EEEE
this indicates that the maximum weighing capacity of the scale has been
exceeded. Remove the weight immediately; otherwise, permanent
damage could occur.
