LVH-5 VIDEO SWITCH
MANUAL SWITCH 4:1
The LVH-5 was designed to switch video signals from up to four sources to one output.
Switching is made automatically and is indicated by control LEDs. The switching time is
adjustable. Each channel features a manual override button to stop the sequencing mode.
Each input is provided with a parallel output for feed-through of the input signal. The open
collector outputs allow for controlling other units. Power connections are made using block
terminals. The unit is compatible with NTSC and PAL systems.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Before your initial start-up, please make sure that there are no transport damages. Should
there be any, do not take the device into operation and immediately consult your dealer.
• Operate the device only after having familiarized with its functions. Do not permit operation
by persons not qualified for operating the device.
• Protect the device against humidity and heat. Keep away from heaters and other
heating sources!
• We recommend a frequent cleaning of the device. Disconnect from mains first. Use
a soft lint-free and moistened cloth. Never use alcohol or solvents!
• There are no serviceable parts inside the device. Maintenance and service operations are
only to be carried out by authorized dealers.
• Damage, caused by manual modifications on the device are not subject to warranty. If the
device is used for other purposes than originally intended or if it is not correctly connected,
the product may suffer damages and the guarantee becomes void.
• This product is allowed to be operated with 12-24 V DC. This device falls under protection
class 3 and was designed for indoor use only.
OPERATION
Prior to connecting switch off all units and do not turn them on again until you have made all
necessary connections.
1 Connect each signal source which is to be switched via a 75 coaxial cable with BNC
plugs to the jacks INPUT1-4.
2 The input signal fed through is available at the outputs LOOP OUT. These outputs allow to
connect the line inputs of further LVH-5 or different units. If 75 termination of the input
signal is required, plug the supplied terminator onto the LOOP OUT jack. The output
video signal is 75 back-terminated to provide unity gain (0 dB) into a 75 terminated
input.
3 Connect the unit to which the video signal is to be switched via a 75 coaxial cable with
BNC plugs to the jack VIDEO OUT.
4 If fewer than four signal sources are being used, a jumper may be installed to program the
LVH-5 to use two or three sources. With two signal sources, connect the jumper to the
terminals RESET and 3; with three signal sources connect it to the terminals RESET and 4.
5 The open collector outputs allow to control other units. For this purpose, connect the
external unit's relay contacts to the terminals REMOTE CONTROL1-4.
6 To power the unit 12-24 V DC are required. For this purpose, connect a power source (e.g.
power supply unit, battery) to the terminals DC 12-24. Always observe the correct polarity.
Connect the marked core to the left contact "+".
7 When power is first applied to the LVH-5, it sequences between the video inputs at the
interval set on the control RATE. An LED indicator above each selector button shows
which video source is active. To stop the sequencing, press the desired selector button 1-4.
Then the output displays that input. While the unit is holding at that signal source, the
HOLD LED flashes. Press the selector button once again to resume the sequencing or
switch to another signal source with the selector buttons while in hold mode.
