General safety instructions for cordless powerîtools
Warning: Readîall theîinstructions. Failure to comply with theîfollowing
instructions can lead to electric shock, ïŹres and/or serious injury. Theîterm
âpower toolâ in theîwarning text below refers to your handheld mains
operated or battery operatedîtool.
1) Theîworkîarea
a) Cluttered or dark areas invite Keep theîwork area clean and wellîlit.
accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as
in theîpresence of ïŹammable liquids, gases orîdust. Powerîtools
create sparks which may ignite dust orîfumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating aîpowerîtool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match theîoutlet. Neverîmodify theîplug
in anyîway. Neverîuse anîadaptor plug together with earthed
powerîtools. UnmodiïŹed plugs and matching outlets will reduce
theîrisk of electric shocks.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded objects, such as
pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators. Thereîis anîincreased risk of
electric shock if your body is earthed.
c) Do not expose theîpower tool to rain or other wet conditions.
Waterîentering aîpower tool will increase theîrisk of electricîshock.
d) Do not abuse theîmainsîlead. Neverîuse theîlead for carrying,
pulling or unplugging theîpowerîtool. Keepîtheîlead away from
heat, oil, sharp edges and movingîparts. Damaged or tangled leads
increase theîrisk of electricîshock.
e) When operating power tools outdoors, use anîextension lead that
is suitable for outdoorîuse. Theîuse of anîextension lead designed for
outdoor use decreases theîrisk of electric shocks.
f) If operating aîpower tool in aîdamp location, use aîresidual current
device (RCD) protected supply. Useîof anîRCD reduces theîrisk of
electricîshock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating aîpowerîtool. Doînot use power tools if you are tired or
under theîinïŹuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Oneîmoment of
inattention while using aîpower tool may result in serious injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Usingîprotective clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes,
helmets and ear defenders when needed decreases theîrisk of injury.
c) Avoid unintentional starting. Makeîsure that theîpower switch is
set to OFF before connecting to power source and/or batteryîpack.
Carrying power tools with your ïŹnger on theîswitch/trigger or energising
power tools that have theîswitch set to ON, invites accidents.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching theîpower toolîon.
Aîservice tool left on aîrotating part of theîpower tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keepîproper footing and balance at allîtimes.
Thisîwill allow you to have more control in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Doînot wear loose-ïŹtting clothing or jewellery.
Keepîhair, clothes and gloves away from movingîparts.
Looseîclothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in movingîparts.
g) If equipment for dust extraction and collection is available, make
sure that it is connected and used properly. Useîof dust collection
equipment can reduce dust related hazards.
4) Power tool use andîcare
a) Do not force theîpowerîtool. Useîtheîcorrect power tool for your
application. Theîcorrect power tool will do theîjob better and safer if
used at theîrate for which it was designed.
b) Never use theîpower tool if theîpower switch does not switch
theîtool on and off properly. Anyîpower tool that cannot be controlled
by theîpower switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug theîlead from theîwall socket, before making any
adjustments, changing accessories or storing theîpowerîtool.
Theseîprecautions reduce theîrisk of theîpower tool starting
unexpectedly.
d) Store idle power tools out of theîreach of children and do not allow
people who are unfamiliar with theîpower tool or these instructions
to operate theîtool. Powerîtools are dangerous in theîhands of
untrainedîusers.
e) Maintaining powerîtools. Checkîfor any incorrect settings, parts
that catch, broken parts or anything else which may cause
theîpower tool to malfunction. Ifîany damage is noticed, have
theîpower tool repaired beforeîusing. Manyîaccidents are caused by
poorly maintained powerîtools.
f) Properly maintained cutting tools with Keep tools sharp andîclean.
sharp blades are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use theîpower tool, accessories and similar in accordance with
these instructions and in anîappropriate way suitable for theîtype
of power tool used, taking into account theîworking conditions and
theîwork to be performed. Useîof theîpower tool for aîpurpose other
than that for which it is intended could result in aîdangerous situation.
5) Use and maintenance of cordless powerîtools
a) Make sure that theîpower switch is set to OFF before attaching
theîbattery. Attaching aîbattery to aîpower tool when theîpower switch
set to ON is inviting anîaccident.
b) Only charge theîbattery using aîcharger approved by
theîmanufacturer. Aîcharger suitable for one type of battery can pose
aîïŹre hazard if used for another type of battery.
c) Use power tools only with speciïŹcally designated batteryîpacks.
Theîuse of other types of batteries might cause damage orîïŹre.
d) When not in use, theîbattery should be stored away from other
metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or
any small objects that could bridge theîgap between theîbattery
terminals. Shorting theîbattery terminals together may cause burns or
aîïŹre.
e) Mistreating theîbattery may cause it to leakîacid. Contact with
this acid should be avoided. Ifîcontact accidentally occurs, ïŹush
withîwater. Ifîtheîacid contacts eyes, additionally seek medicalîhelp.
Battery acid can cause irritation andîburns.
6) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by aîqualiïŹed repair person using
only identical replacementîparts.
Additional safety instructions for chargers and batteries
