PRECAUTIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING
Please keep this manual in a safe and handy place for future reference.
WARNING
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even
death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards. These precautions
include, but are not limited to, the following:
Installation Location
• Followandobeytheinstructionstoproperlyassemblethein-
strument.Usinginanimproperlyassembledstatecancause
the instrument to overturn, resulting in injury.
• Alwaysassembletheinstrumentwithtwoormorepersons.
Doing so alone can cause the instrument falling over result-
ing in injury and damage to the instrument.
• Neverplacetheinstrumentonansloping,unstable,etc.,
platform. The instrument may fall or overturn and result in
injury.
Handling
• Ifyouexperienceanyabnormalmovement,noise,orvibra-
tion, stop using the instrument immediately and tighten all
boltsagain.Theinstrumentcanoverturnresultingininjury.
• Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingpartssuchasthe
gap in the casters. Disregarding this can result in injury.
• Neverleanonorclimbontotheinstrument.Theinstrument
may fall and result in injury.
• Donotplayorroughhousearoundtheinstrument.Bumping
intotheinstrumentmayresultininjury.Itmayalsocause
instrumenttofallover.Keepchildrenawayfromtheinstru-
ment.
• Ifanearthquakeoccurs,strongshockscausedbythe
earthquakemayoverturntheinstrumentorcauseittomove
about.Stayawayfromtheinstrumentduringearthquakes.
When moving the instrument
• Whenmovingtheinstrumentonitscasters,onlymove
acrosssmooth,atsurfaces.Avoidmovingtheinstrument
across surfaces that are sloped, uneven, or graveled. The
xylophonecancollapseand/orgetoutofcontrol.
• Donotrunwiththeinstrument.Theinstrumentmaybecome
impossibletostop,crashintoawall,andcauseserious
injury.
• Iftheinstrumentmustbelifted,dosowithatleasttwo(2)
persons.Lifttheinstrumentbyitssideframesusingboth
hands. Holding the rail section can result in the instrument
droppingorfallingoff.Neverholdtheinstrumentanywhere
other than the side frames.
• Movingtheinstrumentupordownstairsshouldneverbe
donewiththeinstrumentassembled.Doingsoisadanger-
ouspartscanfalloff,oryoucanloosebalancecausingthe
instrument to fall over. Only move the instrument after it has
beendisassembled.

Handling
• Neverplaceanyobjectsontheinstrument.Doingsocan
damagethetonebarsorframe.
• Pleasechangecrackedtonebarsassoonaspossible.
Crackedtonebarshavesharpedgesthatcancuthands.
• Donotusethehammerforanythingotherthanplayingthe
instrument.Itmaybethecauseofinjuryoraccidents.Do
notletchildrenstrikeother,etc.,withthemallet.Donotallow
suchdangerousbehaviortotakeplace.
• Donotusehandorchestrabellmalletsorotherhardobjects
onyourxylophones.Theresultingdentsorscratchesinthe
tonebarscouldimpairthesound.Thexylophone’stonebars
inparticular,aremadeofasoftwoodspeciallychosenforits
distinctivelydeeptimbre,sopleasetakecare.Alsoavoidhit-
tingthetonebarshardwithahardmallet.Thetonebarscan
crack.

limited to, the following:
Yamahacannotbeheldresponsiblefordamagecausedbyimproperuseormodicationstotheinstrument.
• Alwaysusetwoormorepersonswhenassemblingthelegs
andstays,andwhensettingtheresonators.Disregardingthis
canresultininjuredhandsorngers,andpartsmayfallover
or get scratched.
• Thetonebarsshouldbepolishedfromtimetotimeusing
asoftanddryclothorsiliconecloth.Stainsthatcannotbe
removedwithadryclothmaybewipedoffusingasmall
amountofethylalcohol.Neverusethinnerorbenzeneora
wetclothforcleaningpurposes.
When moving the instrument
• Whentheinstrumentmustbetransportedtoadifferent
location,disassembleittothesamestateas
whenitwas
purchased, taking care to pack each component properly.
Disassemblystepsareintheoppositeorderofassembly.
• Handletheinstrumentcarefullywhenmoving.Neverdrop
orthrow.Theinstrumentissensitivetoshocksandmay
becomedamaged.
NOTICE
• Afterfinaladjustmentofthelegsthefixingscrewsmustbe
tightened securely to prevent loosening. Looseness may
cause the instrument to shift during performance and can
alsocausenoiseandotherproblems.Retightenthescrews
from time to time.
• Use orstoragein thefollowing locationsmaycausedam-
age,evenwhenpackaged.
- Indirectsunlight,suchasnearawindow,orinaclosed
vehicle in daytime.
- Nearheatingdevicesorinotherlocationssubjectto
excessiveheat.
- Inexcessivelycoldenvironment.
- Inplaceswithexcessivehumidityordust.
- Locationssubjecttovibrations.
- Locationswheretheinstrumentcanbeexposedtorain
or moisture.
• If theinstrument is often moved, bolts,parts, etc., may
become loose.After moving the instrument, check and
makesure all bolts, parts, etc.,are firmlyfastened.Firmly
tighten all loose items.
• The tonebars willnot properlyresonateifthe suspension
cordsarenothookedinthetonebarposts.Makesurethe
cords are properly attached.
• Objects droppedintothe resonatorpipes maycausepoor
resonance.Pleasebecareful.
• Usethesupplied coverto protect the instrumentfrom
dustwhen not in use. (The supplied cover shouldbedry-
cleaned.)
