Thislocomotivedecoderisamultipleprotocol
decoder,thatcanoperatewithandautomatically

Die Programmierung des Decoders erfolgt für das
DCC-FormatüberdieEinstellungderKongurati-
onsvariablen(DCC-konformeCV),fürdasMotoro-
la-FormatüberRegister.
Ansteuerung im Analogbetrieb
DenLokdecoder5242/5243könnenSieauchin
analogenModellbahnanlageneinsetzen(Gleich-
oderWechselspannung).SobaldSiedasFahr-
zeugaufdasGleisstellen,erkenntderDecoder
automatisch,oberanalogoderdigitalangesteu-
ertwird,undstelltdenentsprechendenBetriebs-
modus ein. Die automatische Analogerkennung ist
abschaltbar.
Die Lastregelung des Decoders ist auch im Ana-
logbetriebaktiv.DieeingestellteHöchstgeschwin-
digkeitbegrenztauchimAnalogbetriebdiemaxi-
male Geschwindigkeit.
Das Ein- und Ausschalten der Funktionsausgänge
istimAnalogbetriebnichtmöglich.Siekönnenso
programmiertwerden,dasssieimAnalogbetrieb
entwederan-oderausgeschaltetsind.DieEffekte,
diefürdieAusgängeeingestelltsind,sindauchim
Analogbetriebaktiv.Ausgänge,diemitF0geschal-
tetwerden,werdenimAnalogbetriebentsprechend
der Fahrtrichtung ein- oder ausgeschaltet.

Thelocomotivedecoders5242and5243canalso
beusedinanaloguemodelrailwaylayouts.They
canberunwithanA.C.speedcontrolaswellas
withaD.C.speedcontrol.Whenputtingthevehi-
cleontherailsthedecoderrecognizesautomati-
callyifitisruninanalogueordigitalmodeand
sets the corresponding operation mode. The au-
tomaticrecognitionoftheanaloguemodecanbe
switched off.
Theloadcontrolofthedecoderisisalsoactivein
analoguemode.Thesetmaximumspeedsalso
limitsinanaloguemodethemaximumspeedof
thelocomotive.
Switching the function outputs on or off is not pos-
sibleinanaloguemode.Theycanbeprogrammed
so that they are either switched on or off in ana-
loguemode.Theeffectssetfortheoutputsare
activeinanaloguemodeaswell.Outputstobe
switched with F0 are switched on or off in ana-
loguemodeaccordingtothedirectionoftravel.
Overload protection
Assoonasthedecoder´smaximumtotalcurrent
(700mA)isexceeded,thedecoderautomatically
temporallyswitchesoffthemotorandthefunction.
Thisoperationwillberepeateduntiltheoverload
hasbeeneliminated.
Thesensitivityoftheoverloadprotectioncanbe
setupbyaCV(refertochapt.6).
Caution:
Ifashortcircuitbetweendecoderandthe
chassisoccurs,theelectriccurrentcanbe
ashigh,thatthedecoderwillbedestroyed!
