Der Decoder kann in Märklin- und Trix-C-
Gleis-Weichen (mit Elektroantrieb) eingebaut
werden. Die Weiche wird dann im Digitalsys-
tem ohne zusätzliche Verdrahtung mit einer
von bis zu 2.040 Adressen gesteuert. Mit
dem Märklin-Digitalsystem sind davon 256
Adressen nutzbar.
Der Einzelweichendecoder 5231 versteht so-
wohl das Märklin-(Motorola-) als auch das
DCC- (NMRA-) Datenformat und kann somit
von allen dazu kompatiblen Digitalsystemen
angesteuert werden. Zusätzlich lässt sich der
Decoder auf Lokadressen (sowohl Motorola
als auch DCC) programmieren. Dann lässt
sich die Weiche mit einer der Funktionstas-
ten f1 ... f4 schalten. So ist eine Steuerung
auch mit Märklins "Mobile Station" (Motorola)
2. Einleitung
The digital decoder can be installed in all C-
track turnouts (Maerklin and Trix) with elec-
tric mechanisms. The complete digital turn-
out can be controlled with no need of additio-
nal wiring by one addresses out of 2.040 in
the digital system. In the Maerklin digital sys-
tem you can use 256 out of these addresses.
The single turnout decoder operates with the
Motorola and NMRA DCC data format and
so it can be used with all digital systems
which are compatible to these data formats.
In addition to this the decoder is also pro-
grammable to loco addresses (in DCC as
well as in Maerklin Motorola). Then you can
switch the turnout with one of the function
keys f1 ... f4. So it is possibe to switch the
turnout with the Maerklin Mobile Station (Mo-

Als weitere Besonderheit des Decoders wird
der Schaltstrom über ein zusätzliches Kabel
(mit dem gelben Stecker) separat in den De-
coder eingespeist. Dieser kann nun wahlwei-
se vom Digitalstromkreis abgezweigt (Abbil-
dung 1) oder einem separaten Transforma-
tor entnommen werden (Abbildung 2). Die
letztere Möglichkeit entlastet Ihren Booster
und gewährleistet, dass die Weichen auch
bei vielen gleichzeitig fahrenden ZĂĽgen noch
sicher schalten.
Zur Erzielung der optimalen Schaltleistung
ist es jedoch empfehlenswert, die Versor-
gung ĂĽber das viessmann-Powermodul 5215
vorzunehmen (siehe Seite 8, Abbildung 4).
Achtung!
Bei separater Schaltstromeinspeisung (nach
Abbildung 2 bzw. Abbildung 4) das rote Ka-
bel mit gelbem Stecker nicht zusätzlich noch
mit dem roten Leiter des Digitalstromkreises
bzw. dem Gleis-Mittelleiter verbinden!
Allerdings muss das rote Kabel mit dem gel-
ben Stecker immer entweder nach Abbildung
1 oder Abbildung 2 bzw. Abbildung 4 (Seite
8) angeschlossen sein.

A further special feature of this decoder is
the possibility to supply the switching current
separately via an extra wire (with the yellow
plug). You have the choice to use either the
digital current (see figure 1) or the current
from an extra transformer (see figure 2).The
second possibility relieves your digital boost-
er and assures a reliable switching of the
turnout, even if a lot of trains are running at
the same time.
To get the optimum of switching power you
should use the Viessmann Power Module
5215 for the external power supply. This is
shown in figure 4 on page 8.
Attention!
If you use a separate transformer (like in fig-
ure 2 resp. figure 4) never connect the red
wire with the yellow plug with the red wire of
the digital current circuit or the center rail!
But the red wire with the yellow plug always
must be connected like it is shown either in
figures 1 or 2 resp. figure 4 (page 8). If you
don't do this, the decoder isn't able to ope-
rate.
