New 70V Attenuators MV 25,
MV 50 & MV 100
DECORA® Style 70V
Volume Controls/Attenuator
Basic Connecons:
1) All speaker connecons are in parallel whether the
speakers are “home run” individually back to the
amplier; or in a Daisy Chain conguraon Opon#1
from one speaker; to the next making sure Opon#2
they are connected in parallel.
Note: the 3 MCV Aenuators feature a convenient
through-output to easily connect the speakers in Daisy
chain conguraon using the thru-put connecon (by
passing the Transformer) of each Volume Control you
use in the chain.
2) The Common and 70Volt outputs of the Amplier
connect to the Common and Input of each Aenuator
whether all are coming directly from the Amplier in
“Home Run” or from the Aenuator to the previous
Aenuator in the “Daisy Chain”
3) The Common and Output of each Aenuator
connects to the Common and desired color coded
waage wire on the Primary of the 70 Volt Transformer.
Or the Common and Output of each aenuator
connects to the negave (black) and Posive (red) for a
speaker with built in transformer. Then the waage is
set with the selector switch (as featured in the images
to the le)
4) The 8 ohm secondary (output) wires on the
transformer connect to the speaker terminals
(Black-/Red+).
5) Then connect the Line or Auxiliary output from your
main mixer to the Auxiliary input on the Distribuon
amplier.

Features and Specicaons
DECORA style high-quality auto transformer provides advantages of excellent frequency response, low inseron loss
and reliable performance for volume control applicaons in 25 and 70 volt systems. Aenuaon is accomplished in ten
make before break steps plus posive o posion (no stop between maximum and o posion to prevent switch
damage). The Aenuator features removable input/output terminal blocks, Two in, two out and two oponal for
through output for daisy chain opon. An aracve alternave to Commercial series aenuators mounts into most
single gang E.O boxes. UL Listed White, Almond and Ivory Plasc Plates with Matching Skirted Knobs in DECORA® Style

Power Rang:
The MVC are rated at 25W, 50W and 100W so the
speaker connected to it needs the transformer
seng to be equal to or less than the rated was
of each MVC. You can have mulple speakers
connected to one MVC but total waage must be
equal to or less than the rated Wattage of the
respecve MVC that you are using.
Transformer Taps:
For a 70V speaker, whether a in- require more than Rated was to produce ceiling or wall mounted speaker you shouldn’t
more than enough sound. Normally to get the volume right you would need to experiment with the separate waage
sengs (10w, 5w, 2.5w, 1.25w) at each locaon to get the volume you desire. It is more exible to add an aenuator
(volume control) for each speaker. If you add an aenuator you would turn it to full volume then select the transformer
tap (25 wa for MVC-25, 50 watts for the MVC50 and 100 was for the MVC100) which gives you the most volume you
could want.
Picking the right Distribuon Amplier:
To start with the Amplier must have a 70Volt output. It must have an output power rang equal to or greater than the
total waage of the system once you have calculated what each speaker should be set to and the total sum of those
sengs. If you had four speakers at 5 was each (20 total) and one speaker set to 10 was (20 + 10 = 30) your amplier
must be rated at least 30 was minimum. If you had ve speakers at 10 was each (50 total) and another 5 ve speakers
at 5 was each (25 + 50 = 75) you would need a amplier rated at a minimum 75 was.
Some companies recommend the total should be closer to 90% of the minimum rang of the amplier. It is also a good
idea to install an amplier with more than enough power in case you want to add more speakers later.
Key Point: The Power rang of the amplier is determined by the transformer sengs, not the aenuator Rang, The
rated power of the Aenuator is based upon the minimum seng of the transformer taps which have to be equal to or less
than the rated waage of the respecve MVC Aenuator
