TUBE MOTOR
INSTRUCTIONS
1 Safety & installation instructions
Dear customer, please read following instructions carefully, which guarantee the correct functioning of the motor and safety of people.
•
Do not ever allow people with reduced physical capacity or children to operate or play with switches or other control devices..
•
Check the rolling shutter while it moves and make sure that nobody gets close by until it is completely closed.
•
Check regularly the correct functioning of the installation.
•
In case of rolling shutters/awnings supervised by automatic systems, make sure that the motor cannot be started when works are carried out nearby (for example, when
windows are cleaned, we suggest to disconnect electricity supply by switching off the main.
•
The connection of the power supply cable is a “Y” type one. If the power cable of the motor is damaged, it must be replaced either by the manufacturer or its after seals
assistance or by a specifically qualified persons in order to avoid any hazard as specific tools are required for such purpose. Otherwise any guarantee will be declined.
•
If the motor is installed with the cable outdoor a special cable must be used . Otherwise it will be necessary to protect the standard P.V.C. cable (supplied with the motor),
by fitting it in specific tubes (conduits or anti UV protective coverings) for protection against atmospheric agents and sun rays.
•
Additional components for the implementation of the installation, such as adaptors and brackets must be chosen among those offered by the producer “Jolly Motor” through
its sales network. These products are listed in the catalogue supplied on request.
WARNING: IMPROPER INSTALLATION MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE. CAREFULLY FOLLOW ALL THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
y
Before installing the geared motor remove all the unnecessary cables and disconnect any equipment not required for motorized operation.
y
If operations are controlled by a manual switch, this must be installed in view of the equipment, but far from the moving parts and at a height of at least 1.5 m.
y
If a manual release is provided, the actuating member is to be installed at a height less than 1.8 m.
y
When installing the awnings leave a space of at least 40 cm between the awning and any other objects.
y
The moving motor parts installed at less than 2.5 m from the floor must be suitably guarded.
y
Do not turn the control end run ring (1) before the installation of the gear motor and never strike the exit pins.
y
Do not drill the tube when the gear motor is switched on. The fixing of the mobile element will be done using screws with a length, which can guarantee that the jutting part
inside the tube will be 1 mm max, in order to avoid mechanical interference between the fixing and the rotating parts.
y
If the motor is installed in a rolling shutter box it must have a service opening based on DIN standard for adjusting and checking the system.
y
Our reducing gears are exclusively designed and sized for moving various types of rolling shutters for private homes or use with awnings. Any other use of the reducing
gears must be discussed ahead of time with the manufacturer for approval.
y
Our motors are correctly dimensioned and operations are compatible with the characteristics of the operated parts, only if the operating loads specified are complied with:
“Application diagram for rolling shutters”, “Application diagram for sun awnings”. Apply the motor respecting data written on its label.
y
Disconnect the supply current when you work near driving devices for awnings or shutters control, as an example when windows are washed.
2 Installation procedure
3 Electric connections
THE MEANING OF THE COLOUR OF THE WIRES IS THE FOLLOWING:
• YELLOW / GREEN cable: ground connection.
• BLACK cable: phase of the electrical supply for rotation in one direction.
• BROWN cable: phase of the electrical supply for rotation in the opposite direction.
• BLUE (GREY) cable: neutral of the electrical supply (common for both directions).
Once all electrical wiring connections have been completed, check that the rotation direction of the roller tube
corresponds to the direction shown on the buttons. If this is not the case, swap the black wire with the brown
wire.
WARNING:
• The connection to the supply line (in the switchboard) must be made by a two-pole switch with an
opening distance of 3mm between contacts.
• The ‘balancing’ phase between the brown and the black cable is controlled by a switch with central zero
at permanent contact or automatic return. However, for application on awnings, the use of an automatic
return switch is suggested.

If necessary, fix the square pin (3) to the end run block (3) using the screw (4).
b) Insert
the adapter ring (5) and the pulley (6) and fix the latter with the cotter (7) (series 40 and 50) or
by using the screw (8) and washer (9) (series 60).
c) Insert the cover (10) into the tube (11).
d) Insert the motor (12) into the roller tube (11) completely, WITHOUT HITING the square pin (2).
e) Hang the tube to its special fixed supports (13) and (14).
DO NOT FORCE while hanging it on the
motor side and place the tube so that the adjustment screws (15) can be reached easily.

5 cm
• It is NOT allowed to connect more than one motor to the same single switch. The centralisation controls can be done by an appropriate devices,
which are supplied on request.
• The gear motor is made for intermittent working. However, it is provided by an internal thermal protection, which stops the power supply in case of
overheating, for example after continuous operations (more than 10 non-stop). The motor re-functioning happens after a time not lower than 10
minutes, at the end of which the thermal protection resets itself automatically. But, after this resetting, the motor can function at a reduced rate; the
normal functioning will be possible only after a complete motor cooling (about 60 minutes).
• If the electricity supply cable of this motor is damaged, it must be replaced only by a repair centre, recognised by the manufacturer, as it is necessary
to use special equipment. In cases where such indications are not adhered to, the guarantee will be rendered invalid..
4 Limit switch adjustment
WARNING
:
• In order to avoid injury or damage to the device during the regulation procedure of the
stop, it is essential to be able to stop the coiler tube at any moment.
• It is recommended that you use a normal screwdriver to regulate the route end points.
If you use and electric screwdriver use a very low rotation velocity (inferior to 100
RPM) without exerting pressure on the screws.
• In the case of rolling shutters, do not install stopper or stop carriers on the end blade.
LIMIT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT:
a) Lower the tube, without the roller, until the motor stops automatically.
b) While keeping the down button pressed, turn the lower end run adjustment screw (see
figure) anti-clockwise (+), until the roller tube is in a suitable position for anchoring the
roller shutter.
c) Fix the roller shutter to the tube. Warning: DO NOT USE over-long screws.
d) Raise the roller shutter/awning until the motor stops automatically.
e) While keeping the up button pressed, turn the upper end run adjustment screw (see
figure) anti-clockwise (+), until the roller shutter/awning reaches the topmost position
desired.
LATER ADJUSTMENTS:
If, for example, the upper stopping point has been set too high, move the roller shutter or
awning to a position below the desired stopping point. At this point, turn the upper end run
adjustment screw a few times in a clockwise direction (−), and then start the procedure
again from point d).
NOTE: for awnings we advise you to:
• Regulate the stop points with a reasonable safety margin that takes into account the size variations of the tent sheet due to various phenomenon such as heat and humidity… .
• One first check is suggested after few days from the installation and eventually a further end run adjustment to recover an eventual cloth “plays”.
• Use automatic closing systems in case of strong wind in order to avoid damage to the motor.
5 Reducer gearboxes with supplementary operation
Before utilizing the manual override switch off electric current of the motor.
The figure shows various installation possibilities of the manual maneuver with respect to the
position of the motor.
WARNING:
• If the gear motor is provided by a manual override device,
it is necessary to take care to the motor orthogonality as
regards its fixing plan (static part).
• Only for reducer gearboxes with supplementary operation,
fit the stop brackets as to pic. 5, to avoid during manual
operation, the roller blind entering the housing completely.
In this case, adjust the limit switch so that the stop
brackets remain at least 5 cm lower than the stop
threshold.
6 Trouble shooting
1. THE MOTOR DOES NOT WORK:
• Check the electrical supply.
• Verify the correct execution of the electrical connections (see par. 3).
• If the problem occurs after numerous close operations the thermal protection could have intervened. In that case wait for the cooling of the system.
2. THE SHUTTER/SHADE DOES NOT STOP IN CORRESPONDENCE TO THE STOP:
• Check that the stop has been well inserted in the coiler tube (see point d) par. 2).
• Verify that the procedure for the regulation of the stops has been executed correctly (see par. 4).
• Check that the moving pulley is adequate and correctly inserted in the coiler tube.
• Verify the fastening of the pin square support to the roller-shutter box or to the wall.
3. THE MOTOR TURNS BUT THE ROLLER-SHUTTER/SHADE DOES NOT MOVE:
• Check that the roller-shutter/shade is fixed well to the coiler tube.
• Check that the moving pulley is correctly inserted in the shaft of the motor (see point b) par. 2).
