INSTRUCTIONS
READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
THIS AIR PURIFIER
When using electrical appliances, basic
precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and
injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before operating the
air purifier.
2. Place air purifier where it is not easily
knocked over by persons in the household.
3.
Always turn the air purifier to the OFF position
and unplug from the wall outlet when not in
use.
4.
To disconnect the air purifier, press the
Power ( ) button or turn the knob to the
OFF
position (O) to turn the air purifier off,
grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet.
Never pull by the cord.
5. Do not use any product with a damaged
cord or plug or if product malfunctions, is
dropped or damaged in any manner. Keep
the cord away from heated surfaces.
6. Do not use air purifier outdoors.
7. Never use air purifier unless it is fully
assembled.
8. Do not run power cord under carpets, and
do not cover with throw rugs. Arrange cord
such that it will not be tripped over.
9. Do not use air cleaner where combustible
gases or vapors are present.
10. Do not expose the air purifier to rain, or use
near water, in a bathroom, laundry area or
other damp location.
11. The air purifier must be used in its upright
position.
12. Do not allow foreign objects to enter
ventilation or exhaust opening as this may
cause electric shock or damage to the air
purifier. Do not block air outlets or intakes.
13. Locate air purifier near the outlet and avoid
using an extension cord.
14. This appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of shock, this plug is intended to
fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician.
DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety
feature.
15. A loose fit between the AC outlet
(receptacle) and plug may cause
overheating and a distortion of the plug.
Contact a qualified electrician to replace
loose or worn outlet.
16. Do not sit, stand or place heavy objects on
the air purifier.
17. Disconnect power supply before servicing.
WARNING: To Reduce the risk of fire or
electric shock, do not use this air purifier
with any solid-state speed control device.

SET-UP (ALL MODELS)
ā€¢ Select a firm, level and flat location. For best airflow, locate the unit at least 6 inches (15.2 cm) from
any wall or furniture.
ā€¢ When operating, large volumes of air are drawn toward the air cleaner. Surrounding areas should be
cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent build-up of dust and other contaminants. This may also
help prolong the life of the filter. If the unit is placed on a light colored carpet, a small mat or rug should
be used underneath to prevent staining. This is especially important in homes with contamination from
smoking or fireplaces.
ENHANCED ODOR REDUCTION (HFD-014, HD010WHS, HD010LHS, HD010RHS ONLY)
The washable pre-filter came installed in your air purifier and removes larger particles from the air that
passes through the filter. You may use this washable pre-filter, or you have the choice to use the optional
Odor-Lockā„¢ Pre-filter (in HFD-014, HD10WHS, HD010LHS, HD010RHS ONLY). In addition to capturing
larger particles, the Odor-Lockā„¢ Pre-filter will also trap common household odors and gases. If you
choose to use the Odor-Lockā„¢ Pre-filter, you must remove the installed washable pre-filter then insert the
Odor-Lockā„¢ Pre-filter. (See ā€œInstalling The Odor-Lockā„¢
Pre-filtersā€ on page 7).
NOTE: Please only use one pre-filter in your air cleaner at a time. You will need to choose whether you
want to use the permanent washable pre-filter or the replaceable Odor-Lockā„¢ Pre-filter.
Both are included with your air cleaner at the time of purchase (in HFD-014, HD10WHS, HD010LHS,
HD010RHS ONLY).
OPERATION (HFD-015, HFD-110 and HD110)
ā€¢ Press the Power ( ) button once. The unit will start at the
Medium Power level and remain on this setting until another
cleaning level is chosen (Fig. 6).
ā€¢ Select a power level by pressing one of the three power level
buttons: High ( ), Medium ( ) or Low ( ) (Fig. 7). The indicator
light above the selected button will illuminate.
ā€¢ Press the Power button again to turn off the air purifier.
Timer Operation
ā€¢ Press the Timer ( ) button if you would like your air cleaner to
run and then automatically shut-off after a certain amount of time
(choose from between 4, 8 or 12 hours). This is convenient if
you would like your air cleaner to run during the night but then
shut-off automatically in the morning (choose the 8 hour setting).
ā€¢ The timer can be turned off by repeatedly pressing the Timer
() button until all of the timer indicator lights go out.
NOTE: Removing the ifDĀ® Micro-filter assembly or turning the
unit off will cancel the Timer function.
OPERATION (HFD-010, HD010, HFD-013 and HFD-014 SERIES)
ā€¢ Ensure the unit is in the OFF (O) position and is plugged into
a working electrical outlet.
ā€¢ Rotate the control knob to the desired speed level: High ( ) or
Low ( ) (Fig. 5).
ā€¢ The indicator light will illuminate when the power is on.
ā€¢ Turn the control knob to the Off (O) position to turn off the
air purifier.

Check Filter Indicator - When it is time to check and clean the filters, an indicator light will illuminate
Fig. 9 (HFD-015, HFD-110 and HD110 Only). When this light comes on, you will need to clean the
primary ifDĀ® filter and clean or replace the pre-filter. (See Filter Cleaning instructions on page 6). It is
recommended that you periodically check the filters.
To Reset Electronic Filter Check - After the ifDĀ® filter and washable pre-filter have
been cleaned/replaced and re-installed in the unit, plug the unit into the power outlet
with the unit still in POWER OFF mode, press and hold the CHECK FILTERS RESET
button until the LED will no longer be illuminated.
The cleaning intervals are intended as guidelines only. Performance of any filter
media is dependent upon the concentration of contaminants going through the
system. High concentrations of contaminants such as dust, pet dander and smoke
particles will reduce the useful performance of the filter and they may need to be
cleaned more frequently.
