Safety
Warning: Readîall safety information, warnings and instructions. Failure to read safety information,
warnings and instructions can lead to ďŹre, property damage or serious personal injury.
Persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capability or lack of experience and knowledge means that
they cannot use theîsaw in aîsafe way must not use it without supervision or instruction. Children shall be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with theîsaw.
1) Work area safety
a) Cluttered and poorly lit areas invite accidents. Rags, clothing, cables, Keep theîwork area clean and well illuminated.
gloves or other materials must not be left in theîworkîarea.
b) Do not use theîsaw in explosive environments, such as in theîpresence of ďŹammable liquids, gases orîdust.
Theîsaw can create sparks which may ignite dust orîfumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away from theîarea when you are using theîsaw. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Personal safety
a) Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense when using theîsaw. Neverîuse theîsaw if you are tired
or under theîinďŹuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Oneîmoment of inattention while using aîchainsaw may result in
serious injury.
b) Wear protective clothing. Always wear safety glasses. Usingîprotective clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety
shoes, helmets and ear defenders reduces theîrisk of injury.
c) Remove all service tools/keys before starting theîchainsaw. Aîspanner or other tool which has been left on aîrotating
part of theîsaw could result in anîinjury.
d) Do not overreach. Keepîproper footing and balance at allîtimes. This will allow you to have better control of theîsaw
in unexpected situations.
e) Wear suitable clothing. Doînot wear loose-ďŹtting clothing or jewellery. Keepîhair, clothes and gloves away from
movingîparts. Loose-ďŹtting clothes, jewellery or long hair could become caught in movingîparts.
3) Use and maintenance of theîsaw
a) Do not force theîsaw. Makeîsure that theîsaw is designed for theîwork you are about to perform. Theîsaw must only be
used as described in this instruction manual.
b) Do not use theîsaw if theîpower switch is not functioning properly. Anyîsaw that cannot be controlled by theîpower
switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Store chainsaws that are not being used out of childrenâsîreach. Doînot allow people who are unfamiliar
with chainsaws or these instructions to operateîthem. Chainsaws can be dangerous if they fall into theîhands of
inexperiencedîusers.
d) Properly maintain theîsaw. Checkîfor misalignment, binding of moving parts, broken parts or anything else which
might affect theîoperation of theîsaw. Ifîany damage is noticed, have theîsaw repaired beforeîusing. Manyîaccidents are
caused by poorly maintainedîsaws.
e) Properly maintained chains with sharp edges are easier to control.Keep theîchain sharp andîclean.
f) Use theîsaw, and any accessories in accordance with these instructions, taking into account theîworking conditions
and theîwork to be performed. Useîof theîsaw for aîpurpose other than that for which it is intended could result in
aîdangerous situation.
⢠Keep all parts of your body away from theîsaw chain once theîsaw has been started. Before starting theîsaw,
check that theîsaw chain is not in contact with any objects and can run freely. Evenîaîbrief moment of inattention
can lead to theîsaw chain fastening in anîitem of clothing or aîbodyîpart.
⢠Always hold theîsaw with your right hand on theîrear handle and your left hand on theîfront handle. Neverîhold
theîsaw in any other way, it increases theîrisk of personal injury.

ENGLISH
⢠Use protective eyewear and hearing protection. Protective equipment for hands, head, legs and feet are also
recommended. Wearing theîcorrect type of safety clothing reduces theîrisk of personal injury from theîsaw chain or
ďying debris from theîsawing.
⢠Never climb aîtree to operate theîchainsaw. Usingîaîchainsaw in aîtree can result in personal injury.
⢠Make sure that you stand on aîďrm, level surface when you use theîsaw. Slippery and unstable platforms such as
ladders can result in aîloss of balance and loss of control over theîsaw.
⢠Be prepared for branches under tension to spring back during theîsawing process. Whenîtheîtension in branches
isîreleased they can spring back and strike chainsaw operators causing them to lose control of theirîsaws.
⢠Be very careful when cutting brush and saplings. Thinîtwigs can get caught in theîsaw chain and be projected
towards you or cause you to lose your balance.
⢠Always carry theîchainsaw by theîfront handle with theîguide bar pointing away from yourîbody. Theîscabbard
must always be ďtted when theîchainsaw is being transported or stored. Usingîtheîchainsaw correctly will reduce
theîlikelihood of contact with theîsaw chain when it is in motion.
⢠Follow theîinstructions regarding lubrication, chain tensioning and changing of accessories. Anîimproperly
tensioned or lubricated chain increases theîrisk of chain breakage or kickback.
⢠Always keep theîhandles dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Slippery handles covered in oil can cause you to lose
control over theîsaw.
⢠Cut woodîonly. Theîsaw is not designed for sawing plastic, hardboard or other building materials not made
ofîwood. Usingîtheîsaw to saw aîmaterial it was not designed to saw could lead to aîdangerous situation.
Causes and prevention of kickback
Kickback can occur when theîtip of theîguide bar contacts anîobject or if theîsaw cut closes and traps theîchain.
If theîtip of theîguide bar touches anîobject it can cause aîreaction which throws theîguide bar back up towards theîoperator.
Pinching theîsaw chain along theîtop of theîguide bar may push theîguide bar rapidly back towards theîoperator.
All of these reactions may cause you to lose control of theîsaw which could result in serious personal injury.
Do not rely solely on theîsafety features ďtted to theîsaw. Whenîusing theîsaw you yourself must take precautions to prevent
accidents and injuries. Kickback is caused either by poor maintenance, anîincorrect sawing method or using theîsaw for
theîwrong purpose. Thisîcan be avoided by following theîfollowing safety precautions:
⢠If you understand what causes kickback theîrisk of being surprised and losing control will be reduced.
⢠Hold theîsaw ďrmly with bothîhands. Holdîtheîsaw with your right hand on theîrear handle and your left hand on
theîfront handle. Maintain aîďrm grip with thumbs and ďngers encircling theîhandles and your arms and body
positioned in such aîway that you can resist kickback forces should they occur. You can control theîforces arising
from aîkickback if theîcorrect precautions areîtaken. Neverîlet go of theîsaw when theîengine is running.
⢠Make sure that theîwork area is free of obstacles. Neverîlet theîtip of theîguide bar contact aîtree trunk, branch or
other object.
⢠Always saw using full throttle.
⢠Do not overreach and do not saw above shoulder height. Thisîwill help you to prevent theîtip of theîguide bar from
accidentally coming into contact with objects and and cause you to lose control over theîsaw if something unexpected should
happen.
⢠Follow theîmanufacturerâs instructions regarding sharpening and maintenance of theîsawîchain. Aîblunt chain also
increases theîlikelihood of kickback.
⢠Use only those replacement parts, guide bar and saw chain recommended by theîmanufacturer. Usingîaîguide bar
or saw chain of theîincorrect type can lead to kickback or chain breakage.
WARNING: BEWARE OF KICKBACK!
Warning: Kickback poses aîserious accident risk and can cause theîoperator to lose control of theîsaw.
Thisîcan result in serious injury to theîoperator and any bystanders. Beîvigilant at allîtimes.
Kickback caused by theînose or tip of theîguide bar touching anîobject or by theîwood closing
and pinching theîsaw chain in theîcut is theîmain cause of chainsaw accidents.
