Safety
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow
theîwarnings and instructions may result in electric shock, ïŹre and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
Theîterm âpower toolâ in theîwarnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power
tool or battery-operated (cordless) powerîtool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and wellîlit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in theîpresence
of ïŹammable liquids, gases orîdust. Powerîtools create sparks which may ignite
theîdust orîfumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating aîpowerîtool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match theîoutlet. Neverîmodify theîplug in anyîway.
Doînot use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) powerîtools.
UnmodiïŹed plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electricîshock.
b) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. Thereîis anîincreased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Waterîentering aîpower
tool will increase theîrisk of electricîshock.
d) Do not abuse theîcord. Neverîuse theîcord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
theîpowerîtool. Keepîcord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or movingîparts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase theîrisk of electricîshock.
e) When operating aîpower tool outdoors, use anîextension cord suitable for
outdoorîuse. Useîof aîcord suitable for outdoor use reduces theîrisk of electricîshock.
f) If operating aîpower tool in aîdamp location is unavoidable, use aîresidual current
device (RCD) protected supply. Useîof anîRCD reduces theîrisk of electricîshock.

3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating
aîpowerîtool. Doînot use aîpower tool while you are tired or under
theîinïŹuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Aîmoment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat,
or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure theîswitch is in theîoff-position before
connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying
theîtool. Carrying power tools with your ïŹnger on theîswitch or energising power
tools that have theîswitch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning theîpower toolîon.
Aîwrench or aîkey left attached to aîrotating part of theîpower tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keepîproper footing and balance at allîtimes. Thisîenables
better control of theîpower tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Doînot wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keepîyour hair, clothing
and gloves away from movingîparts. Looseîclothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in movingîparts.
g) If devices are provided for theîconnection of dust extraction and collection
facilities, ensure these are connected and properlyîused. Useîof dust collection
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force theîpowerîtool. Useîtheîcorrect power tool for your application.
Theîcorrect power tool will do theîjob better and safer at theîrate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use theîpower tool if theîswitch does not turn it on andîoff. Anyîpower
tool that cannot be controlled with theîswitch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect theîplug from theîpower source and/or theîbattery pack from
theîpower tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing powerîtools. Suchîpreventive safety measures reduce theîrisk of starting
theîpower tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of theîreach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with theîpower tool or these instructions to operate theîpowerîtool.
Powerîtools are dangerous in theîhands of untrainedîusers.
e) Maintain powerîtools. Checkîfor misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect theîpower toolâs
operation. Ifîdamaged, have theîpower tool repaired beforeîuse.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained powerîtools.
