Congratulations on your purchase of this Swann
Ultra HD Network Video Camera. You’ve made
a fine choice for keeping a watchful eye over
your home or business. The camera delivers
brilliant and amazingly clear high definition
images and videos in both day and nighttime
conditions even in complete darkness. Designed
in an elegant, unobtrusive weatherproof casing
with an integrated 3-axis mounting bracket,
the camera is versatile enough to be installed
on walls and ceilings - indoors or outdoors and
will be an excellent addition to your Swann NVR
monitoring solution.
Note: This manual covers both the 5MP and 4K
camera models.
Important note - All jurisdictions have specific
laws and regulations relating to the use of
cameras. Before using an y camera for any
purpose, it is the buyer’s responsibility to be
aware of all applicable laws and regulations that
prohibit or limit the use of cameras.
Important safety instructions
1) Make sure the camera is fixed correctly and
stable if fastened in place.
2) Do not operate if wires and terminals are
exposed.
3) Never place strain of any kind on the network
cable connection. It’s designed to clip into place to
prevent slippage, but it won’t support any weight
and can be easily broken by a sharp tug. Exercise
caution.
Warning - Modifications not approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void user’s
authority to operate the equipment.
Introduction Connecting your Camera
Some things to consider when choosing a location -
1) What you want to monitor and where you’ll get the
best view of it.
2) How you’re going to connect the camera to your
monitoring system; remember that ca bles and
connections shou ld be kept out of the weather.
3) It’s recommended to mount your camera at an
elevated position to minimise harm.
4) Place your camera as close to the area of interest
as practicable. The best position is from about 4m
(13ft) above looking slightly down, keeping in mind
the details you are looking for.
5) Although the sky looks nice when you look at the
live view from your camera, it is an unlikely direction
for an offender to approach, make sure your camera
has minimal sky in it as the light in daylight can make
the foreground of the image darker.
6) Think about the most likely way a potential offender
may approach your home, use your cameras to give
you the best coverage of these areas.
7) The camera’s casing is resistant to water, different
weather conditions and tampering. It would take
an overwhelming event of this kind to damage the
housing of the camera. However, the cable and
connector are vulnerable and require protection.
8) Even though the camera is weather and water-
resistant, prolonged exposure to adverse weather
conditions such as sunlight or excessive moisture,
may eventually damage the internal components of
the camera and adversely affect its performance.
9) Avoid bending your cables at sharp angles.
10) If you install the camera outside of your home,
we highly recommend using waterproof tape
to wrap the cable connection area between the
camera’s network (LAN) port and the extension
cable’s Ethernet plug, as shown below. Use as
much as is necessary for the layer of tape to
protect the connection. This will help prevent
water or moistuire from leaking into the cable
which can cause the network cable connection to
degrade over time or stop working.
Mounting your Camera Camera Location Tips
To connect your camera to the NVR, simply connect the supplied Ethernet cable to the LAN connection on
the camera then plug the other end of the cable into one of the IP camera inputs on the back of the NVR.
The Ethernet cable is the same at both ends so it doesn’t matter which end plugs into the camera or the NVR.
Note: The DC Power connector is provided as an alternative power option if required. The NVR will provide PoE
power over the network cable when connected as described above and in this case the DC Power is not needed.
The camera can be mounted onto a flat surface using screws. The surface must have sufficient
strength to hold the camera.
• Position the camera in the location you want to mount it, and
mark the screw holes on the surface to position the screws.
Then, using appropriate screws for the surface you’re fixing the
camera to, secure the camera into place.
• If you’re mounting to a wooden surface, then screw the camera
directly to the surface.
• If you’re mounting to a masonry surface (bricks, concrete or
similar), then you’ll need to use wall plugs.
Adjusting the camera angle
• Loosening the locking ring will allow you to pan, tilt and rotate
the camera.
• Remember to tighten the locking ring back securely to lock the
camera’s position in place after you’ve finished adjusting the
viewing angle of the camera.
