General Power Tool Safety Warnings
m WARNING!
Read all safety warnings
and instructions
Failure to follow all warnings and instructions may result in
electric shock, re or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for
future reference
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your operated
(corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area
a) Keep work areas clean and well lit. Cluttered and
dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of î›…ammable liquids, gases, or
dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce the
risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool. Keep
the cord a safe distance away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords
increase the risk of electric shock.
1. Avoid dangerous environments – Do not use hedge
trimmers in damp or wet locations.
2. Do not use in rain.
3. Keep children away – All visitors should be kept a safe
distance away from the work area.
4. Dress properly – Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.
They can be caught in moving parts. Use of rubber gloves
and substantial footwear is recommended when working
outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long
hair.
5. Use safety glasses – Always use face or dust mask if
operation is dusty.
6. Use the right appliance – Do not use the appliance for any
job except that for which it is intended.
7. Avoid unintentional starting – Do not carry plugged-in
hedge trimmer with nger on the switch. Make sure the
switch is off before plugging in.
8. m DANGER! – Risk of Cut – Keep Hands Away From
Blades – Keep both hands on handles when power is on.
Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to
be cut when blades are moving. Make sure trimmer switch
is off when clearing jammed material from blades. Do not
grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when
picking up or holding the hedge trimmer.
m CAUTION! – Blades coast after turn off.
9. Do not force hedge trimmer – It will do the job better and
with less likelihood of a risk of injury if it is used at the rate
for which it was designed.
10. Do not overreach – Keep proper footing and balance at all
times.
11 Stay alert – Watch what you are doing. Use common
sense. Do not operate the hedge trimmer when you
are tired.
12. Store idle hedge trimmer indoors – When not in use, the
hedge trimmer should be stored indoors in a dry and high
or locked-up place, out of the reach of children.
13. Maintain hedge trimmer with care – Keep cutting edge
sharp and clean for best performance and to reduce
the risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating
and changing accessories. Inspect hedge trimmer
cord periodically, and if damaged, have it repaired by
an authorized service facility. Inspect extension cords
periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry,
clean, and free from oil and grease.
14. Check for damaged parts – Before further use of the hedge
trimmer, a guard or other part that is damaged should be
carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly
and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of
moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts,
mounting, and any other condition that may affect its
operation. A guard of other part that is damaged should
be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service
center unless indicated elsewhere in this manual.

3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use a power tool while you are tired or under the
inî›…uence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment
of inattention while operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury.
b) Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
This includes, but is not limited to, eye protection, dust
mask, and hearing protection.
c) Make sure the switch is in Avoid accidental starting.
the off position before plugging in. Carrying power
tools with your nger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning
the power tool ON. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal
injury.
e) Make sure you always have proper Do not overreach.
footing and balance. This will provide better control of
the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your
hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in
moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use of these devices can
reduce dust related hazards.
4) Use and care
a) Do not use the Grass Shear/Shrubber for
applications that are beyond its capacity. Use the
correct power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer if it is used at
the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the tool applications if the switch does not
turn it ON and OFF. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures
reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
d) Store the tool out of the reach of children. Do not allow
people unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions
to operate the tool. Power tools are dangerous in the
hands of untrained users.
e) Always maintain the Grass Shear/Shrubber. Check for
misalignment, binding of moving parts, breakage,
and other conditions that would affect its operation.
If damaged, have the tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting attachments sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting attachments with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Only use the tool, accessories, and attachments as
described in these instructions. Using the tool for
operations it is not intended for could cause damage to
the tool and hazardous situations. Always consider the
working conditions and the work to be performed.
5) Battery use and care
a) Always recharge the battery with the charger
specied by the manufacturer. A charger that is
suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk
of re when used with another battery pack.
b) Only use battery packs that are designated for this tool.
Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of
injury and re.
c) When the battery pack is not in use, keep it at a
distance from other metal objects, such as paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects
that can make a connection from one terminal to the
other. Shorting the battery terminals together may
cause burns or a re.
When using the hedge
trimmer, make sure to wear
proper apparel and keep
both hands away from the
cutting area.
3
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from
the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, î›…ush with water. If liquid contacts eyes,
seek additional medical help. The liquid ejected from
the battery may cause irritation or burns.
6) Service
a) Have the tool serviced by a qualied repair
person using only manufacturer’s recommended
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of
the tool is maintained.
