Getting to Know Your Two
Multimedia Home Screen
One-touch access for all multimedia needs.
Screen Keys
Rewind to beginning of song/video
Press to play or pause music/video
Fast forward to next song/video
Access full music/video library
Open full screen mode for best viewing
Activate Music and Video mode to access
songs/videos from library
Activate Picture mode to view pictures from library
Activate camera to take pictures or videos
Go to V CAST to get music 1
Volume control. Use thumb wheel to maximize or
minimize volume
When you turn on your new Q 9m for the first time, the MOTO
multimedia home screen will appear.

To switch between the two home screens, press
and hold the home screen toggle key found
on the keyboard.

- Close any unused programs by pressing Start >
System Tools > Task Manager > select program to
kill > Menu > Kill
- Reduce backlight timeout by pressing Start >
Settings > Power Management > Backlight Timeout

- Turn off Bluetooth® power when you are not using it
by pressing Start > Bluetooth > Bluetooth Manager
> Settings > Change status to Bluetooth OFF

Use V CAST to download music over the air.
While on the go, the V CAST Music store is open
24/7. No wires or computers necessary.
Follow These Steps to Buy Music
Note: Your phone must be in an EVDO coverage area to
download music.
1. Using the thumb wheel, scroll to and select
the V CAST Music icon
2. Browse catalog to find songs you want
3. To Preview, press the left soft key
4. Highlight Song > Buy A
5. Press A again to confirm selection
6. Press OK A (or choose to download later)
7. Select storage to Phone Memory or Memory
Card to begin downloading

Insert Memory Card
Store all your new songs on a memory card to
keep your MOTO Q 9m memory free!
1. Open memory slot
2. Insert card with metal contacts facing
downward, toward back of phone
Note: Memory card icon will appear at top of screen if
inserted correctly.
3. Push cover back in place to close
Get V CAST Music1
Play Downloaded Music or Videos1
1. Use the thumb wheel to scroll to and select
the music & video icon . This will put you
into the music and video mode. Your device
may already be in this mode and your display
may not change
Note: will take you to V CAST.
2. Scroll to and select the music library icon
3. Select Update Library (this will ensure all your
music is updated to your library)
4. Select All Media
5. Scroll to and select your song; your music will
start playing
Tip: To stop playing your music, push the center select key.
To resume music, push the center select key again.
Note: You only need to update your library after
downloading new music or videos to your phone.

1. Type in the contact’s phone number
2. Press the right soft key (Menu)
3. Select Send Text Message and compose
your message
Note: Press the function key to switch between
numbers and letters when typing. Press the shift key to
switch between lower case and upper case characters.
4. Press the Ieft soft key (Send)
Send Text From Your Contact List1
1. Press the right soft key (Contacts) and select
desired recipient
2. Scroll down and select Send Text Message
Browse the Internet1
1. Press the left soft key (Start) and select
Internet Explorer
2. With the browser open, press the right soft
key (Menu), and select Address Bar
3. Clear URL in address bar field by holding
down backspace key
4. Enter URL and press the left soft key (Go)
Play Your Music
Get your Yahoo!®, AOL®, Gmail®, Hotmail® or
other POP3 emails right on your QMOTO TM 9m.
Setup is quick and easy!
Follow These Steps
1. Press the left soft key (Start)
2. Messaging
3. New E-Mail Account
4. Enter email address
5. Select “Try to get email server settings
from internet”
Note: If your phone finds your account settings, it
automatically fills in the following screens. If your phone
cannot find your settings, contact your email provider to
get settings.
6. Press the right soft key (Next)
7. Enter username and password
8. Press the right soft key (Next)
9. Press the right soft key (Finish)
Note: Steps may vary by email provider.
Tip: Save more battery life by extending your email Send/
Receive intervals: Press the Messaging key > select
an email account > Menu > Settings > Next until you can
change the Automatic Send/Receive interval.
