Kawai CL25-LDS Quick Start Guide
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a This Kawai CL25-LDS Digital Piano.
Quick-Start Guide is designed to be used with the CL25-LDS Ownerâs
Manual that accompanied your instrument. To begin operating your CL25-
LDS quickly and safely, please observe the following steps:
1. Take a moment to study the found SAFETY FIRST ââImportant Safety Informationâ
on Pages ____ of the CL25-LDS Ownerâs Manual.
2. DISPLAY FUNCTIONS âAlso take a moment to review Section ___ of the CL25-LDS
Ownerâs Manual (pages ____) entitled PARTS AND NAMES. The drawings on these
pages will help you become familiar with the various control buttons and pedals on the
CL25-LDS.
3. POWER ON âPlug in the CL25-LDS and turn the VOLUME KNOB to the right to turn
the instrument on. The SOUND SELECT LED should light to indicate that power is on.
4. Adjust the VOLUME KNOB to a minimum level when you ïŹrst turn SET VOLUME â
on the instrument, especially when using headphones. Then, adjust volume upward to a
comfortable listening level.
5. When power is ïŹrst turned on, the Concert Piano sound PLAYING THE CL25-LDS â
is active. Play any key or chord and adjust the VOLUME KNOB upward or downward
to a comfortable listening level. Press the SOUND SELECT button to select the next
sound (Modern Piano). The eight sounds of the CL25-LDS are arranged in a preset order
and can be selected by pressing the SOUND SELECT button repeatedly until the desired
sound is heard:
Sound 1: Concert Piano Sound 5: Harpsichord
Sound 2: Modern Piano Sound 6: Vibraphone
Sound 3: Electric Piano Sound 7: Strings
Sound 4: Church Organ Sound 8: Choir
After reaching Sound 8, the CL25-LDS will return to Sound 1 when the SOUND
SELECT button is pressed.
6. U HYMN PLAYER FEATURE SING THE â â
The unique Hymn Player feature allows anyone even those who lack keyboard skills â â
to play a selection of 88 favorite hymns with just one ïŹnger. The and childrenâs songs
following section will walk you through this feature step-by-step. Please refer to the
diagram on page ___ of the CL25-LDS Ownerâs Manual to identify the buttons below.

NOTE: Make sure that your CL25-LDS operation panel has a âpanel overlayâ attached
that identiïŹes the speciïŹc button names associated with the CL25-LDS model. If the
panel overlay is not attached, please notify Kawai America at 800-421-2177 (x870) to
request the overlay.
a. Selecting a Hymn or Childrenâs Song
The hymns and childrenâs songs are assigned to each of the 88 white and black keys
in alphabetical order. All of the titles are listed on the following page.
To make a selection, press and hold down the HYMNS button while pressing the key
that corresponds to your desired hymn or childrenâs song. The LED light on the
HYMNS button will light when the Hymn Player feature is activated.
b. Playing Methods
Once you have selected a hymn or song, there are two diïŹerent ways to play it using
the Hymn Player feature:
1) You can play any hymn or song automatically. Simply select AUTO PLAY:
a hymn/song as instructed above (making sure the HYMNS button is lit) and
then press the PLAY/STOP button. The selected hymn/song will immediately
begin to play. When it ïŹnishes, you can press the PLAY/STOP button again
to repeat the hymn from the beginning.
2) You can play a hymn or song by tapping any METER PLAY METHOD:
key on the CL25-LDS keyboard in "straight meter" (that is, with evenly
spaced beats). The Hymn Player feature will provide the correct melody and
accompaniment notes, regardless of which keys you press. Your tapping will
control both the tempo and the volume of the hymn's playback. In essence,
the Meter Play Method allows you to "conduct" the hymn or song.
After selecting a hymn, tap any key with even beats to start playing When the .
hymn is ïŹnished, you can continue tapping to repeat the hymn from the
beginning.
7. USING THE âPRELUDE MUSICâ FEATURE
The Prelude Music feature allows the CL25-LDS to play a preset sequence of hymns for
prelude or postlude. To activate Prelude Music:
a. Make sure the LED light on the HYMNS button is (if it is currently on, press oïŹ
the HYMNS button again to turn it oïŹ).
b. Press the START/STOP button to activate the Prelude Music. The ORGAN sound
will be automatically selected and the hymn will play. Each hymn will be played
twice. Some hymns will change key the second time they are played. When the
original randomly-selected hymn ïŹnishes, the next hymn in the preset sequence
will play.
c. Press the STOP/START button again to stop the Prelude Music at any time.
