SPIDERS AND INSECTS CAN OCCASIONALLY
SPIN WEBS OR MAKE NESTS IN THE BURNER
TUBES. THESE CAN OBSTRUCT GAS FLOW
WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
THIS IS KNOWN AS ‘FLASH-BACK’ AND CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO BBQ AND CREATE
AN UNSAFE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT.
FREQUENT INSPECTION AND CLEANING OF THE
BURNER TUBES IS RECOMMENDED.
FLASH-BACK
• Turn off gas at its source and turn the burner
control(s) to . Wait until cooled, then clean‘OFF’
burner tubes and burner ports.
CLEANING THE GRILLPLATES
• Allow to cool before washing in a warm soapy
solution. Use a wash cloth, a vegetable brush, or
steel wool.
CLEANING THE GREASE RECEPTACLE
• Allow contents to cool before emptying and
washing in liquid detergent.
BUTANE OR PROPANE?
There are two different types of gas that can be used
on your gas BBQ. It is important that you use the
correct regulator for the types of gas you buy.
The following gas cylinder sizes are recommended:
Butane: > 7 kg. Propane: > 6 kg.
MAINTENANCE
• DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO OPERATE BBQ.
• ACCESSIBLE PARTS MAY BE VERY HOT, KEEP
CHILDREN AWAY.
• ANY MODIFICATION OF THIS BBQ MAY BE
DANGEROUS.
• DO NOT MOVE THIS BBQ DURING USE.
• TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY AT THE GAS
CYLINDER AFTER USE.
• READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
THE BBQ.
• PARTS SEALED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR
THEIR AGENT MUST NOT BE MANIPULATED
BY THE USER.
• THIS BBQ IS ONLY TO BE USED OUTDOORS.
• BBQ SPECIFICATIONS CAN BE FOUND ON
THE DATA LABEL ATTACHED ON THE SIDE
PANEL OF THE BBQ TROLLEY.
• DO NOT STORE OR USE PETROL OR OTHER
FLAMMABLE VAPOURS AND LIQUIDS NEAR
BBQ.
• DO NOT STORE EMPTY OR FULL SPARE GAS
CYLINDERS UNDER OR NEAR BBQ.
• KEEP THE GAS HOSE AND ANY ELECTRICAL
CORD AWAY FROM HOT SURFACES.
• AVOID UNNECESSARY TWISTING OF HOSE.
•
VISUALLY INSPECT HOSE PRIOR TO EACH USE
FOR CUTS, CRACKS, EXCESSIVE WEAR OR
OTHER DAMAGE.
• THE HOSE MUST BE REPLACED IF
DAMAGED AND WHEN NATIONAL
CONDITIONS REQUIRE IT.
• NEVER LIGHT BBQ WITH HOOD CLOSED.
• NEVER LEAN OVER COOKING SURFACE WHILE
LIGHTING BBQ.
• USE BBQ TOOLS WITH WOOD HANDLES OR
GOOD QUALITY INSULATED OVEN MITTS
WHEN OPERATING BBQ.
• NEVER ALTER OR MODIFY THE REGULATOR
OR GAS SUPPLY ASSEMBLY.
• Never operate this BBQ without a regulator.
• Depending on which gas you decide to use, you
will need to approach your local gas dealer for a
regulator. Following supply pressures are a guide
only:
For
Butane - 30 millibars
Propane - 30 millibars
}
I 3B/P (30)
For :
Butane - 28 millibars
Propane - 37 millibars
}
I 3+ (28 - 30/37)
For :
Butane - 50 millibars
Propane - 50 millibars
}
I 3B/P (50)
The regulator and hose assembly:
• Must be suitable for liquified petroleum gas (LPG).
• Must withstand the above pressures.
• Must not exceed 1.0 metre in length.
• The BBQ is supplied with a loose elbow adaptor
that is suitable for direct conection of a flexible
hose.
• Use appropriate Jubilee clip or twin-eared fastener
to connect hose to BBQ adaptor to secure the
hose/regulator connection.
• After the assembly has been secured, turn on the
gas and check for leaks. See Checking For Gas
Leaks. Ensure this procedure is carried out in a
flame free atmosphere.
LOCATION OF YOUR BBQ
• Not to be used in garages, porches, breezeways,
sheds or other enclosed areas.
• Not to be used on recreational vehicles.
• Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and
ventilation air around the BBQ.
CHECKING FOR GAS LEAKS
NOTE: Never test for leaks with an open flame.
If you smell gas, turn off at source.
Prior to first use, and at the beginning of each new
season , it is(or, whenever gas cylinder is changed)
a must for you to check for gas leaks.
1. Make soap solution of one part liquid detergent
and one part water.
2. Turn burner control(s) to , then turn on gas‘OFF’
at source.
3. Apply the soap solution to all gas connections.
Bubbles will appear in the soap solution if
connections are not properly sealed. Tighten or
repair as necessary.
4. If you have a gas leak you cannot rectify, turn off
the gas at the source, disconnect hose and
immediately call your BBQ dealer or supplier for
assistance.
GAS CONNECTIONS
Use gas regulator and hose complying with local
regulations.
GAS CYLINDER SAFETY
• Never store gas cylinder indoors.
• Keep gas cylinder in an upright position.
• Close cylinder valve when BBQ is not in use.
• Do not subject gas cylinder to excessive heat.
• Exchange cylinder away from any ignition source.

• Do not smoke!
• Turn off gas at source, turn burner control to
‘OFF’.
• wait five minutes before trying again.
• Check gas supply/connections.
• Repeat lighting procedure and, if BBQ still fails to
operate properly, TURN OFF GAS AT SOURCE,
TURN BURNER CONTROLS TO , wait for‘OFF’
BBQ to cool and check the following:
a) Misalignment of burner tube(s) and over
orifice(s).
CORRECTION: Reposition burner tube to properly
sit over orifice.
b) Obstruction in gas line
CORRECTION: Remove hose from BBQ.
Open gas supply for one second to clear any
obstruction from hose. Close off gas supply at
source and reconnect hose to BBQ.
c) Blocked orifice
CORRECTION: Remove loose items from inside
BBQ body. Remove burners by pulling cotter pin
from beneath burner ‘foot’ using a screwdriver or
needle nose pliers. Lift each burners away from
gas valve orifice, clear any obstruction with a fine
wire. Re-install burners over orifices and seat
each burner ‘foot’ into mounting bracket at bottom
of BBQ body. Replace cotter pins. Replace
cooking components.
d) Misalignment of igniter on burner
CORRECTION: The tip of the electrode should be
pointing toward the collector box. The gap
between the spark electrode and the tip of the
collector box should be 3 - 5 mm. Adjust if
necessary by carefully bending.
If re-ignition is necessary while the BBQ is still hot,
you must wait for a minimum of five minutes before
commencing to re-ignite. (This allows accumulated
gas to clear).
If all check/corrections have been made and BBQ
still fails to operate properly, consult your BBQ dealer
or gas appliance service person.
