If you smell gas, turn off at source.
Prior to first use, and at the beginning of each new
season , it is(or, whenever gas cylinder is changed)
a must for you to check for gas leaks.
1. Make soap solution of one part liquid detergent
and one part water.
2. Turn burner control(s) to , then turn on gas at
source.
3. Apply the soap solution to all gas connections.
Bubbles will appear in the soap solution if
connections are not properly sealed. Tighten or
repair as necessary.
4. If you have a gas leak you cannot rectify, turn off
the gas at the source, disconnect hose and
immediately call your BBQ dealer or supplier for
assistance.
GAS CONNECTIONS
Use gas regulator and hose complying with local
regulations.
GAS CYLINDER SAFETY

Close cylinder valve when BBQ is not in use
Do not subject gas cylinder to excessive heat
Exchange cylinder away from any ignition source.
BUTANE OR PROPANE?
There are two different types of gas that can be used
on your gas BBQ. It is important that you use the
correct regulator for the types of gas you buy.
The following gas cylinder sizes are recommended:
Butane: > 7 kg. Propane: > 6 kg.
FLASH-BACK
Turn off gas at its source and turn the burner
control(s) to . Wait until cooled, then clean
burner tubes.
CLEANING THE GRILL PLATES
Allow to cool before washing in a warm soapy
solution. Use a wash cloth, a vegetable brush, or
steel wool.
CLEANING THE FLAMETAMER

Use a wire brush to remove stubborn burnt on
cooking residue if necessary. Dry thoroughly
before re-installing in the BBQ body.
CLEANING THE GREASE RECEPTACLE

washing in liquid detergent.

ready for instant use. Once a year, give the entire
BBQ a thorough cleaning.
INTERIOR:

disconnect gas supply
Detach the hose / regulator assembly from BBQ
Remove and clean the cooking plates,
flametamers and burners
Cover gas valve orifices with aluminium foil.
Brush the inside and bottom of the BBQ body with
a stiff wire brush. Wash with a mild soap and
warm water solution. Rinse thoroughly and dry
Remove aluminium foil from orifices and check
for obstruction
Check spark electrode, adjusting if necessary

BURNER CROSS IGNITION
Do not smoke!
Turn off gas at source, turn burner control to
Wait five minutes before trying again
Check gas supply / connections
Repeat lighting procedure and, if BBQ still fails to
operate properly, TURN OFF GAS AT SOURCE,
TURN BURNER CONTROLS TO , wait for BBQ
to cool and check the following:
a) Obstruction in gas line
CORRECTION: Remove hose from BBQ.
Open gas supply for one second to clear any
obstruction from hose. Close off gas supply at
source and reconnect hose to BBQ.
b) Misalignment of igniter on burner
CORRECTION: The tip of the electrode should be
pointing toward the collector box. The gap
between the spark electrode and the tip of the
collector box should be 3 - 5 mm. Adjust if
necessary by carefully bending.
If re-ignition is necessary while the BBQ is still hot,
you must wait for a minimum of five minutes before
commencing to re-ignite. (This allows accumulated
gas to clear).
If all check / corrections have been made and BBQ
still fails to operate properly, consult your BBQ dealer
or gas appliance service person.
IF BBQ FAILS TO OPERATE PROPERLY
SPIDERS AND INSECTS CAN OCCASIONALLY
SPIN WEBS OR MAKE NESTS IN THE BURNER
TUBES. THESE CAN OBSTRUCT GAS FLOW
WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
THIS IS KNOWN AS ‘FLASH-BACK’ AND CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO BBQ AND CREATE
AN UNSAFE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT.
FREQUENT INSPECTION AND CLEANING OF THE
BURNER TUBES IS RECOMMENDED.
