SUBMINIATURE OMNIDIRECTIONAL CONDENSER MICROPHONE
- Maximum intelligibility and clean, accurate reproduction for lecturers,
singers, stage and TV performers.
- Low-prole design is ideal for applications requiring minimum visibility.
- Includes a clothing clip and accessory windscreens.
- MT830a is switchable for low-frequency roll-off reduces sensitivity to
popping in close vocal use.
- MT830a can be operated on battery or phantom power.
- MT830cW is terminated for use with all Audio-Technica UniPak™
wireless systems.
The MT830a / MT830cW is a subminiature condenser microphone
intended to be worn on the clothing of performers for excellent yet
unobtrusive sound pickup. The wide-range capability of the microphone
ensures clean, accurate reproduction with high intelligibility for lecturers,
singers, stage and TV performers, as well as musical instruments. Its
small size makes the microphones ideal for use in applications where
minimum visibility is required.
The microphone element is enclosed in a rugged housing with low-
reectance nish. Internal construction is designed to minimize handling
and clothing noise. A 1.4m cable is provided between the microphone
and terminal plug. A clothing clip and accessory windscreens are also
provided.
MT830a
Includes a power module AT8531 that requires 11V to 52V DC phantom
power, or a 1.5V AA battery for operation. A battery need not be in place
for phantom power operation.
An integral 80Hz high-pass filter provides easy switching from a flat
frequency response to a low-end roll-off. The roll-off position reduces
the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise (such as trafc, air-handling
systems, etc.), room reverberation and mechanically coupled vibrations.
Output from the power module’s XLRM-type connector is low impedance
(Lo-Z) balanced. The signal appears across Pins 2 and 3; Pin 1 is ground
(shield). Output phase is “Pin 2 hot” - positive acoustic pressure produces
positive voltage at Pin 2. To avoid phase cancellation and poor sound, all
mic cables must be wired consistently: Pin 1-to-Pin 1, etc.
MT830cW
Less power module and includes clothing clip and metal-frame pop lter
only. 1.4 m cable terminated with locking 4-pin connector for Audio-
Technica UniPak™ body-pack wireless transmitters.
Avoid leaving the microphone in the open sun or in areas where
temperatures exceed 40°C for extended periods. Extremely high humidity
should also be avoided.

MT8 30 a
