InfraStruXure Power Distribution Module Cable Extender

Installation Instructions

Overview

The InfraStruXure Power Distribution Module (PDM) cable extender provides additional cable

length to the PDM. It is available in various lengths, ratings and connector types in order to reach

equipment in racks or enclosures that may have been moved further away from the PDM than their

original installation. APC offers the cable extender in lengths of 1.2 meters (3.9 feet) to 9.7 meters

(31.8 feet) in 0.6-meter (2-foot) increments. Each extender terminates on one end with an IEC 309

plug and on the other end with an IEC 309 receptacle.

Warning: Use the cable extender only with a 400 V InfraStruXure power

distribution system. Do not use it with any other applications.

How to install the PDM power cable

Note: You do not have to power down the PDM to attach the cable extender to an existing

PDM power cable.

Connect the receptacle of the PDM power cable to the cable extender plug.

Run the receptacle end of the attached cable extender through a cable trough to the rack or

enclosure with the equipment to which you wish to feed power.

At the rack or enclosure, connect the plug of the equipment to the receptacle of the cable

extender. The following illustration provides an overview of the cable extender connections. If

possible, move the plug and receptacle into the equipment rack to provide more room in the

cable trough.
