Remove all packaging, but keep it till youâre satisïŹed the toaster is working.

Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 This toaster must only be used by or under the supervision of a responsible adult.
Use and store the toaster out of reach of children.
2 Donât put the toaster in liquid, donât use it in a bathroom, near water, or
outdoors.
3 Sit the toaster upright on a ïŹrm, level, heat-resistant surface.
4 Donât put it on or near anything that could be damaged even by moderate heat.
5 Bread may burn. Donât use the toaster near or below curtains or other combustible
materials, and watch it while itâs hot.
6 The area round the toasting slots gets very hot â donât touch!
7 Route the cable so it doesnât overhang, and canât be tripped over or caught.
8 If youâre not using both slots, donât let anything get into the empty slot, as both
slots will be live when the bread carriage handle is lowered.
9 Donât let the toasting slots become covered during toasting, or while the toaster is
still hot.
10 Donât cover the toaster or put anything on top of it.
11 If bread gets jammed, unplug the toaster, let it cool, and carefully remove the
bread. Donât use anything sharp, youâll damage the elements.
12 Donât toast sandwiches or buttered items, the ïŹllings or the butter may burn.
13 Donât use torn, curled, or misshapen bread, you may jam the toaster.
14 Unplug the toaster when not in use, before moving and before cleaning. Let it cool
down fully before cleaning and storing away.
15 Clean the crumbs out of your toaster frequently, to avoid a build up of crumbs. This
is unhygienic and could cause a ïŹre hazard.
16 Donât use the toaster unless the crumb tray is ïŹtted and closed.
17 Keep the toaster and the cable away from sources of heat.
18 Donât use the toaster for any purpose other than those described in these
instructions.
19 This toaster must not be operated by an external timer or remote control system.
20 Donât operate the appliance if itâs damaged or malfunctions.
21 If the cable is damaged, the toaster must be returned, in order to avoid hazard.

before using for the ïŹrst time
1 Before using the toaster for the ïŹrst time, you need to cure the elements. This will
remove their protective coating.
2 This may smell a bit, but itâs nothing to worry about. Just make sure the room is
well ventilated.
3 Check that thereâs nothing in the slots, turn the browning control to 6, and operate
the toaster without bread.
4 When itâs done, leave the toaster to cool down fully, then you can use it normally.
