C CARE AND MAINTENANCE
19 Unplug the toaster and let it cool.
20 Wipe outer surfaces with a damp cloth. If
necessary, use a little washing-up liquid.
21 Donât let anything enter the slots.
22 Slide the crumb tray out, empty it, wipe it
with a damp cloth, dry it, then replace it.
D WIRING UK PLUGS
The product must be earthed. It
has a 13A BS1362 fuse in a 13A
BS1363 plug. To replace the plug,
ïŹt the green/yellow wire to or E, E
the blue wire to N, and the brown
wire to L. Fit the cord grip.
If in doubt, call an electrician.
Donât use a non-rewireable plug unless the
fuse cover is in place. If you remove the plug,
dispose of it.

Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass
them on if you pass the toaster on. Remove all
packaging before use.
A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 The toaster must only be used by or under
the supervision of a responsible adult. Use
and store it out of reach of children.
2 Donât put the toaster in liquid, donât
use it in a bathroom, near water, or
outdoors.
3 Bread may burn. Donât use the toaster near
or below curtains or other combustible
materials, and watch it while itâs hot.
4 The slot surrounds get hot â donât touch!
5 If youâre only using one slot, leave the other
slot empty, as both slots will become âliveâ.
6 Unplug the toaster when not in use.
7 Donât put anything on top of the toaster.
8 Check that the crumb tray is ïŹtted.
9 Sit the toaster upright on a stable, level,
heat-resistant surface.
10 Route the cable so it doesnât overhang, and
canât be tripped over or caught.
11 Donât toast sandwiches, buttered items,
torn, misshapen, or oversized slices of bread.
They may jam the toaster and/or catch ïŹre.
12 If bread gets jammed, unplug the toaster,
let it cool, then carefully remove the bread.
13 Donât use the toaster for any purpose other
than those described in these instructions.
14 Donât use it with a timer or remote control.
15 Donât use it if itâs damaged or malfunctions.
16 If the cable is damaged, return the toaster,
to avoid hazard.

U BEFORE FIRST USE
âą Check the slots are empty, set the browning
level to 6, and use the toaster without bread.
âą It may smoke a bit, but itâs nothing to worry
about â ensure the room is well ventilated.
T TOASTING BREAD
1 Put the plug into the wall socket.
2 Set the browning level (1 = light, 6 = dark).
3 Put bread into the slots (max 22mm thick).
4 Press the lever down fully â it wonât lock
down unless the toaster is connected to the
electricity supply.
5 The light glows, and the elements heat.5
6 When itâs done, the toast pops up, the light
and elements go oïŹ.
5 EJECT
7 To stop the toaster mid-cycle, press .5
f FROZEN BREAD
8 Leave the browning control at your usual
setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the
lever, then press .f
9 The light glows, and the toasting time is f
altered automatically to give the same level
of browning you get with unfrozen bread.
m REHEATING TOAST
10 Leave the browning control at your usual
setting, insert the bread, lower the lever,
then press .m
11 The light glows, the toast gets a short m
burst of heat, then it pops up.
12 Only reheat plain, âunbutteredâ toast.
f BAGEL
13 Conventionally, only the brown crusty
surfaces of bagels are toasted; the soft inner
surfaces are just warmed.
14 Split the bagel, and put the halves into the
slots with the crusts towards the outside.
15 Leave the browning control at your usual
setting, lower the lever, then press .b
16 The light will glow, the brown outsides b
of the bagel will be toasted, and the cut
sides will be warmed.
, If youâre not conventional, and prefer your
bagels toasted on the cut side, feel free to
toast them the other way round â we wonât
tell anyone!
C HINTS AND TIPS
17 Old (yesterdayâs) bread has less moisture, so
makes crisper toast.
18 Old bread, thin slices, and sweet bread
products (tea cakes, fruit loaf, etc.) brown
faster â use a lower setting.
