SEALED Enclosure recommendations
ENCLOSURE INFORMATION
Phoenix Gold subwoofers are overbuilt in virtually every way conceivable. It is important that the subwooferâs enclosure is built to these same exacting
standards. The enclosure must be constructed of at least .75 inch MDF for 10 and 12 inch subwoofers or .625 MDF for 8 inch subwoofers. Screws or air staples
are excellent construction fasteners when used with a strong bonding âyellowâ wood working glue that can îżll joint gaps. Be sure that the enclosureâs panels are
airtight at all joining seams. Lining the walls with a polyester matting 1 to 3 inches thick is sufîżcient.
Your PG dealer has extensive knowledge, tools and the experience needed for the design and construction necessary for your subwoofer application. We also
recommend you consult with your dealer for speciîżc technical assistance related to your installation. The charts provided should be used as a reference when
building an enclosure for your subwoofer. The charts contain several enclosure types. The Sound Quality enclosure provides deeper, tighter, and more musical
output to truly reproduce the original source material. The SPL enclosure îżts the âbassheadâsâ need for maximum output while sacriîżcing some sound quality.
The normal enclosure is a balance between SPL and SQ.
INFORMATIONS SUR LâENCEINTE
Les caissons dâextrĂȘmes graves sont fabriquĂ©s en fonction de normes rigoureuses aîżn de fournir des annĂ©es de plaisir acoustique. Il est important que
lâenceinte du caisson des extrĂȘmes graves soit construite en fonction de ces mĂȘmes normes rigoureuses. Lâenceinte doit comprendre au moins un RP dâau
moins 3/4â de pouces. Les vis ou agrafeuses pneumatiques constituent dâexcellentes piĂšces de îżxation lorsquâelles sont utilisĂ©es avec une colle forte de
couleur «jaune » pour le travail du bois qui peut combler les Ă©carts de jointures. Assurez-vous que les panneaux de lâenceinte soient Ă©tanches au niveau de
toutes les piqĂ»res de liaison. Le revĂȘtement des murs Ă lâaide dâune natte en polyester Ă©paisse de 1 Ă 3 pouces sufîżt.
Votre concessionnaire PG dispose de grandes connaissances, dâoutils et dâexpĂ©rience requise pour la conception et la constructions de votre application
de caisson dâextrĂȘmes graves. Nous recommandons Ă©galement de consulter votre concessionnaire aîżn dâobtenir une assistance technique spĂ©ciîżque se
rapportant Ă votre installation. Les tableaux fournis devraient ĂȘtre utilisĂ©s comme rĂ©fĂ©rence au moment de construire une enceinte pour votre caisson aux
extrĂȘmes graves PG. Les tableaux prĂ©sentent plusieurs types dâenceinte. Lâenceinte de QualitĂ© du son offre une sortie de musique qui est plus profonde, plus
serrĂ©e et davantage de sortie sonore aîżn de reproduire vĂ©ritablement le matĂ©riau source dâorigine. Lâenceinte SPL satisfait le besoin en «basshead» pour une
sortie maximale tout en sacriîżant un peu de la qualitĂ© du son.

SPL = More overall output and compact enclosure size, but sacriîżces some low bass and smooth overall output
Normal = Excellent blend of low bass, accurate and strong overall outputRecommended for most listeners.
SQ = Smooth and exceptional low bass output, but larger enclosure size and sacriîżces some overall output
Additional Notes:
- For vented enclosures a subsonic îżlter set at 30Hz to 40Hz is highly recommended.
- Sealed enclosure volumes INCLUDE THE DISPLACEMENT of the subwoofer.
- Vented enclosure volumes INCLUDE THE DISPLACEMENT of the subwoofer. But DO NOT include displacement of the vent.
- In many cases, a 4 inch round (3 or 2 inch for SX18s4) vent/port can be used instead of a rectangle/slot vent. This can reduce
the vent length and simply the enclosure construction. However, in some rare cases at high power a small amount of port noise
maybe audible. The provided slot/rectangle ports will provide maximum performance and the most predictable results. Contact
technical support for additional enclosure options.
