Before using The Appliance For The First
Time
Before connecting the appliance to the
mains supply and switching on for the first
time, let it stand for about 3 hours to give
the refrigeration system time to settle down
after possible disturbance during delivery.
Clean the appliance thoroughly, especially the
interior (See Cleaning and Maintenance).
Check that the shelves are correctly placed
inside the appliance as described in chapter
Description of the Appliance.
Instructions for Use
These instructions for use describe the appliance
and its correct and safe use. The instructions
cover various models and the model that you
have bought may not include all the functions or
accessories described.
We Care for the Environment
Our products use environmentally friendly
packaging, which can be either recycled or
disposed of in an environmentally friendly
manner. To this end, individual packaging
materials are clearly marked.
These instructions are printed either on
recycled paper or chlorine free bleached paper.
When your appliance finally wears out, please
contact your local authority for information on
safe disposal.
Tips for Energy Savings
Please keep the door open for as short a time
as possible, particularly in hot weather.
Check from time to time that there is adequate
air circulation around the appliance.
Turn the thermostat knob from higher to lower
settings as soon as possible (this will depend
on how much food is in the appliance, ambient
temperature etc).
If your appliance has a continuous operation
switch (fast freeze), never use it unnecessarily.
Switch the operation mode selection switch to
the setting for automatic operation as soon as
possible.
Before loading the appliance with packages of
fresh foods, make sure that they have cooled
down to room temperature.
Excessive ice build-up in the freezer
compartment increases energy consumption;
defrost the freezer as soon as the ice layer is
3-5 mm thick.
Electricity consumption is substantially higher if
the door seals become damaged. Check
occasionally that they are in good condition and
form a good seal.
Always keep the condenser (the black grill at
the back of the appliance) free of dust.
Follow the instructions given in the section on
installation. Placing the appliance near a source
of heat or in direct sunlight will not only use
more electricity, it will shorten the life of your
fridge–freezer.

Important
If you've bought this appliance to replace an old
one equipped with a lock that cannot be opened
from inside make sure that the lock is broken.
This will make it impossible for the children to
lock themselves inside the appliance and
suffocate.
Ensure that the appliance is correctly
connected to the mains supply (see Connection
to the Mains Supply).
Do not touch the inside of the freezer or frozen
food with wet hands because the skin might
stick to the cold surfaces.
Do not freeze bottled drinks, especially not fizzy
ones such as mineral water, sparkling wine,
beer, cola. This is dangerous and can cause
the bottle to crack or even explode.
Never try to eat food while it is still frozen – you
can damage your mouth.
Carefully check the foods for colour and smell
and if you are in doubt about their quality, throw
them away because they may be spoiled and
therefore dangerous to eat.
Disconnect the appliance from the mains
before repairing (only a qualified technician
should repair it) and before cleaning.
Use only tools recommended by the
manufacturer.
Please be careful not to damage the
refrigeration system at the rear of the freezer
when moving it. .
When defrosting the freezer, follow the
instructions and do not try to remove the ice
with sharp objects such as a knife or by using
excessive heat (i.e. hairdryer etc). This may
cause damage to the freezer which is not
covered by the guarantee.
Sometimes the part of the freezer near the door
may feel warm. This is because there is a
heating element around the edge of the
doorway which prevents the door seal freezing
on to the body of the freezer.
The rating plate is inside the appliance.
Storage Time During Power
Supply Interruption
In case of a power cut or other failure, do not
open the appliance, particularly the freezer. If the
power cut extends over a longer period of time
(15 hours depending on the model) take the food
out of the freezer and use it. Many foods can be
cooked and then subsequently refrozen but do
not let food thaw out and then refreeze without
cooking.
