Read the instructions and keep them safe. If you pass the appliance on, pass on the
instructions too. Remove all packaging, but keep it till you know the appliance works.
A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 This appliance must only be used by or under the supervision of a responsible adult.
Use and store the grill out of reach of children.
2 Donāt put the appliance in liquid, donāt use it in a bathroom, near water, or
outdoors.
3 Some parts arenāt as hot as others, but theyāre all hot. Donāt touch ā use oven
gloves or a folded towel.
4 The grill and griddle are independent, but the laws of physics still apply. Heat
will ļ¬ow from one to the other, so theyāll both be hot.
5 Bread, oil, and other foods may burn. Donāt use the appliance near or below curtains
or other combustible materials, and watch it while in use.
6 Sit the appliance on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, near a power socket.
7 Route the cable so it doesnāt overhang, and canāt be tripped over or caught.
8 This appliance must not be operated by an external timer or remote control system.
9 Donāt wrap food in plastic ļ¬lm, or polythene bags. Youāll damage the grill and you
may cause a ļ¬re hazard.
10 Cook meat, poultry, and derivatives (mince, burgers, etc.) till the juices run clear.
Cook ļ¬sh till the ļ¬esh is opaque throughout.
11 Donāt use anything metal or sharp, youāll damage the non-stick surfaces.
12 Keep the appliance and the cable away from hotplates, hobs or burners.
13 Unplug the appliance when not in use, before moving and before cleaning.
14 Donāt use the appliance for any purpose other than cooking food.
15 Donāt use the appliance if itās damaged or malfunctions.
16 If the cable is damaged, return the grill, to avoid hazard.

U BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
Wipe the cooking plates with a damp cloth.

C GRILL OR GRIDDLE?
1 The grill and griddle are independent. You may use each one on its own, or both of
them together. Each has its own temperature control and light.
2 Each temperature control is marked 0 (oļ¬) to 3 (max).
3 Each light will glow while its element heats up, turn oļ¬ when it reaches the correct
temperature, then cycle on and oļ¬ with the thermostat.
C PREPARATION
4 Centre the drip tray under the front of the grill, so it catches any run-oļ¬.
5 Wipe the cooking plates with a little cooking oil or butter, then close it. Donāt use
low fat spread ā it may burn on to the grill.
6 Put the plug into the power socket (switch the socket on, if itās switchable).
C USING THE GRIDDLE
7 Use the griddle for eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, or other
delicate foods that might be crushed or ļ¬attened in the grill.
8 Turn the control to the setting you want, wait till the light
goes oļ¬, then start cooking.
9 Lay the food on the cooking plate with a spatula or tongs, not
ļ¬ngers.
10 The griddle only cooks one side of the food at a time, so itās
slower than the grill, and youāll have to turn the food to cook it on both sides.
C USING THE GRILL
11 Turn the control to the setting you want, wait till the light goes oļ¬, then start cooking.
12 Lay the food on the bottom cooking plate with a spatula or tongs, not ļ¬ngers.
13 Close the grill. The hinge is articulated to cope with thick or oddly shaped foods.
14 The cooking plates should be roughly parallel, to avoid uneven cooking.
C REMOVE THE FOOD
15 Check itās cooked. If youāre in doubt, cook it a bit more.
16 Use wooden or plastic tools to remove the food.
C FINISHED?
17 Unplug the grill (switch the socket oļ¬ ļ¬rst, if itās switchable).
C MORE?
18 Put on the oven glove, empty the drip tray into a heatproof bowl, then give it a wipe
with kitchen paper, and put it under the front of the grill.
C CARE AND MAINTENANCE
19 Unplug the grill and let it cool before cleaning and storing away.
20 Wipe all surfaces with a clean damp cloth. Use a paper towel moistened with a little
cooking oil to remove stubborn stains.
21 Wash the drip tray in warm soapy water, or in the top rack of the dishwasher.
22 Take extra care with the non-stick cooking surfaces.
23 Donāt put the grill in any liquid, and donāt use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents,
solvents, scourers, wire wool, or soap pads.
