SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

the product is operated.
2. Retain instrucī†²ons - The safety and operaī†»ng instrucī†»ons should be retained for
future reference.
3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on the product and in the operaī†»ng instrucī†»ons
should be adhered to.
4. Follow Instrucī†²ons - All operating and use instrucī†»ons should be followed.
5. Cleaning - Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use
liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
6. Aī†¼achments - Do not use aī‡…achments not recommended by the product
manufacturer as they may cause hazards.
7. Water and Moisture - Do not use this product near water- example, near a bath for
tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement; or near a swimming
pool; and the like.
8. Accessories - Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket,
or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult and serious
damage to the product. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any mounī†»ng of the
product should follow the manufacturerā€™s instrucī†«ons, and should use a mounī†»ng
accessory recommended by the manufacturer.
9. Cart - A product and cart combinaī†»on should be moved with care.
Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the
product and cart combinaī†»on to overturn.
10. Venī†²laī†²on - slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for
venī†»lation to ensure reliable operaī†»on of the product and to protect it from
overheaī†»ng. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should
never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
This product should not be placed in a built-in installaī†»on such as a bookcase or rack
unless proper venī†«laī†«on is provided or the manufacturerā€™s instrucī†«ons have been
adhered to.
11. Power Sources - This product should be operated only from the type of power
source indicated on the marking label and connected to a MAINS socket outlet with a
protecī†»ve earthing connecī†»on. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your
home, consult your product dealer or local power company.
12. Power-Cord Protecī†²on - Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not
likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying
parī†»cular aī‡…enī†»on to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where
they exit from the product.
13. Mains Plug - Where the mains plug or an appliance coupler is used as the
disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.

17. Object and Liquid Entry - Never push objects of any kind into this product through
openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could
result in a ī…˜re or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
18. Loudspeakers - Excessive sound pressure from loudspeakers can cause hearing
loss.
19. Damage Requiring Service - Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer
servicing to qualiī…˜ed service personnel under the following condiī†»ons:
a. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product.
c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
d. If the product does not operate normally by following the operaī†»ng instrucī†»ons.
Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operaī†»ng instrucī†»ons as an
improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will oī…¶en require
extensive work by a qualiī…˜ed technician to restore the product to its normal operaī†»on.
e. If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way.
f. When the product exhibits a disī†»nct change in performance-this indicates a need for
service.
20. Replacement Parts - When replacement parts are required, be sure the service
technician has used replacement parts speciī…˜ed by the manufacturer or have the same
characterisī†»cs as the original part. Unauthorized subsī†»tuī†»ons may result in ī…˜re,
electric shock, or other hazards.
21. Safety Check - Upon compleī†»on of any service or repairs to this product, ask the
service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper
operaī†»ng condiī†»on.

CAUTION REGARDING PLACEMENT
To maintain proper venī†»laī†»on, be sure to leave a space around the unit (from the

Mains plug is used as disconnect device and it should remain readily operable during
intended use. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the mains completely, the
mains plug should be disconnected from the mains socket outlet completely.
Baī‡…ery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, ī…˜re or the like.
CAUTION
An appliance with a protecī†»ve earth terminal should be connected to a mains outlet

NOTES ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Placement (SL-5M bookshelf speakers)
For leī…³ and right channels, place the speakers so that the tweeters
are at ear level (i.e., normal seated posiī†øon) and are on either side
of the video receiver or monitor. You can place the speakers on
bookshelves or use speaker stands For use as a rear channel .

The Center Channel Speaker should be in the middle between the
front leī…³ and right main speakers and face toward the
viewing/listening area. The tweeter should be at ear level (i.e.,
normal seated posiī†øon).

For leī…³ and right front channels, place the speakers so they are equal distance from each other and the ideal
listening posiī†øon (see illustraī†øon) The tweeter should be at ear level (i.e., normal seated posiī†øon). .
Notes:
ā€¢ Do not place any objects of any type, such as television displays or decoraī†øve items, on any Cerwin-
Vega! speakers. The objects may be at risk of damage and can aī…’ect the natural sound.
ā€¢ Keep the path from the speakers to the listening area free from obstrucī†øons (e.g., furniture, poī‡‚ed
plants, etc.).
ā€¢ If the room is ā€œliveā€ (e.g., plaster walls, wood ī…¢oors, glass windows, etc.) and produces echoes, try
closing the drapes, adding a throw rug, or consider using sound-absorbing panels.
ā€¢ can produce intense low frequencies, so donā€™t be surprised to iniī†®ally hear Cerwin-Vega! products
raī‡‚les and buzzes coming from furniture and other objects; try reposiī†øoning or removing oī…’ending
suspects (e.g., vase on mantle) or placing felt pads under vibraī†øng items.
ļ‚· If the bass is too prominent, try moving the speakers away from the walls. If you need more bass,
move the speakers closer to the rear walls. For good stereo imaging, keep the speakers about 1-1/2
feet (45 cm) away from the sidewalls and 1 foot (30 cm) out from the rear wall and about 6 feet (2
meters) from each other.
